The movie is opening in just a month. Has anyone come across any info about soundtrack album? Hopefully this one won't be just all songs and tiny bit of the score...
Superman, can you tell us how did it sound? I imagine a more light-hearted version of Predator, for some reason
Also, I hope Alan does a bit of self-referencing to his Clan of the Cave Bear score, just a little nod for kicks, considering the subject matter is practically the same.
I think they'll stick with the Remote Control crowd mostly, according to FSM's latest issue's assignment page Henry Jackman is attached to Dreamworks' next animation, Turbo. I've got no problem with that though, I'm slowly becoming a Jackman fan! As for Croods the trailers look very uninspiring so far but I'm definitely interested to see what Silvestri's come up with.
Well I certainly hope they don't! I'm fairly indifferent to HGW but I'm a huge fan of Powell, who wrote one of my favourite ever scores for HTTYD for Dreamworks, and whose animation scores in general are always bright spots amongst the year's scores for me. Really hoping he stays on the Dragon sequel and also Pixar's The Good Dinosaur.

Here are two Harry Gregson-Williams animation film scores you should check out, immediately.
1). Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas
2). Arthur Christmas
Plus, his collaberbations with Powell for Chicken Run and Antz are really good. HGW is a solid composer :-)
Currently screening this in NYC as I type this. A LOT of Silvestri's score sounds like the pulse pounding action of The Avengers. I really hope this score is released on album! :-)

Uh oh! I was expecting a departure from Silvestri's current militaristic action scores. That's why I was excited about him working on an animated family adventure film like this instead of another over the top comic book-ish action adventure movie. Oh well. I'm still looking forward to this score.

The 98 min film is nearly wall to wall score (except for the song during the credits) The action stuff is roughly half of that. The other half is the very lush and romantic with some comedy scoring. Think along the lines of Father of the Bride meets Practical Magic and others. There should be enough here for everyone's tastes. The mountain collapse scene sounds just like "I Got A Ride" from The Avengers and one other scene has the over the top sound of in The Mummy Returns and Predator.
I've found three clips that contain new Silvestri music. The film doesn't look too good, but the music sounds promising, albeit it sounds familiar in certain places...

Like Flight isn't a departure? Please. And the trailer doesn't suggest that direction.
I could see this film ending DreamWorks' string of hits. The animation is ghastly, movies about cavemen have rarely been successful (the same with films with heavily British styled humor in terms of American audiences) and the film is just horribly cast (Nicolas Cage is a joke now, Ryan Reynolds is on his last legs as a leading man and Emma Stone isn't the big deal that she once was). You think having Chris Sanders as director would be a plus but it feels like he's just following the motions (DreamWorks seems to be wasting the creativity he showed back at Disney).
Also, Fox hasn't marketed the film very well. I haven't seen any trailers for it in the theatre and very little print marketing (on the other hand, the Fox-financed Epic has gotten a huge marketing push by the studio and has a more marketable cast with the resurgent Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell and Christoph Waltz).
