I chose mine because I was a fan of Marlene Dietrich during my teens. I affectionately remembered her and all my knowledge about her when I registered here in 2010. I thought I could hide behind her to throw the occasional tantrum while otherwise being pretty charming
Since then this whole persona extended itself to my blog too. That way I can use gorgeous art-deco pictures and a soothing, sepia toned colour scheme, hoping that all of it looks rather elegant. Well...
I'm 6'6" (2m-ish) and there was already a Tall Guy here. (I think there had also just been a Doctor Who with characters Other Dave and Proper Dave... Sounds familiar.)
Neil is my first name and Bucket was the name of the first dog I had when I moved to America (he was an awesome little chihuahua who is sadly no longer with us). I go by Neilbucket just about everywhere online.
Kids in my high school started, and never stopped, mispronouncing my last name, Loescher, as "low-sher." Then I saw someone write it out and it finally stuck. And 22 used to be a lucky number of mine, not that I believe in that sort of thing anyways.
I'm 6'5", so maybe I should change mine to Shorter Tallguy!
Admiral Miles Naismith is the rank and pseudonym of Miles Vorkosigan after he finds himself owning of a band of space mercenaries, in the Vorkosigan series of novels by Lois McMaster Bujold. They are my favorite series of books, even as this aspect of Miles was left behind long ago.
Back at the dawn of the internet before 2000 it was more common for screen names to be masks of a sort so I picked a screen name that is a pseudonym. It's also aspirational, Miles always has a way out of every situation and generally comes out on top.
I am consistent all over the internet as AdmNaismith. My avatar is from 'Ghost In The Shell'.
Black beast, though it's spelled incorrectly because I don't know much French. My French wife pointed out my error when she saw it, but I already had established it. We once had a wonderful black dog whose name was Chamonix, and sometimes we called her betenoire as a nickname. The term has somewhat sinister connotations, such as your inner "black beast" meaning a dark side, something to be detested or avoided, but that didn't apply to the dog, who was very sweet. My wife thinks it does apply to me sometimes.
