Last week on one of Ferguson's nightly shows, he was commenting about the Oscar nominations and amazingly made jokes about John Williams being nominated for anything he does, even if it sounds like a classical piece everybody's heard. The jokes were not really funny or fresh, but it was still surprising to hear the subject mentioned at all in a late night monologue!
I don't remember when this aired, but he had a great bit years ago about John Williams theme songs being subliminal reminders about how pathetic their listeners were. I.e., that the unspoken lyrics of the Raiders of the Lost Ark theme are essentially, "He's a hero!/You're a loser..."
Some uneducated idiot blasting off about his wrong-headed view - and getting laughs from other airheads.
Is this really passing for wit these days? Pouring hate on someone because he is actually talented and respected?
Um, what? I didn't notice any "pouring hate" going on there. Was is hilarious? No. Was it "pathetic"? Equally, no.
And Craig Ferguson is far from an "uneducated idiot" - indeed he's the only talk show host in America I'd be able to stomach watching if I was living over there.
That was hilarious! I lost it at the "Shave and a Haircut" bit.
I hardly ever get to watch Ferguson's show because it's on so late, but he's a far better host and entertainer than obnoxious David Letterman and classless Jimmy Kimmel.
Craig Ferguson's my favorite late night talk show host. His show is so unique! The 100% improvised exchanges between him and Geoff Peterson are amazing. Check out these two classic bits

Indeed. Makes me look forward to late night edits so I can watch the show! It is the best late night program on TV right now!
Geoff's Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman impressions are hilarious. Seems like ages ago when Geoff's only lines were pre-recorded bits like "in your pants" etc. Now he's a living, breathing, laughing skeletal sidekick!

He's a comedian. He pokes fun at everyone. But there's ZERO disrespect or hate in that bit whatsoever. Chill out!

Just because he´s a comedian it does not mean he can just ridicule others by stating things that are wrong. Where´s the humor in saying that Williams´ music always sounds like the same stolen classical bit? That sure is disrespectful and hateful.
Oh lighten up and quit being so over sensitive! It's an over exaggeration for laughs. You didn't find it funny.... fine.... but there is nothing malicious in the bit whatsoever.

Nowhere in there does he say anything about John Williams "stealing classical music" or "all John Williams music sounds the same." I can't believe this brief little joke is something anybody could have a problem with. He's not making fun of Williams one bit.
