WHITE ZOMBIE is wonderfully bizarre in every way - I love it. Good news then about the new Blu. The two DVD copies I have are atrocious. Picture quality is about the same as YouTube blown up to 40 inches, but the worst of all is the sound. Sometimes it's impossible to even hear what the characters are saying (especially the thickly-accented Lugosi - although that wasn't his fault - it was the snap, crackle n' pop).
Independent U.S. distributors VCI Entertainment have released a new video clip with interesting information about their restoration and upcoming Blu-ray release of Victor Halperin's White Zombie (1932), starring Bela Lugosi, Madge Bellamy, Joseph Cawthorn, Robert Frazer, and John Harron. The release will be available for purchase on May 6th.
