I got this cd for Christmas. Awfully, awfully pretty music here.

I really need to see the film, too.

I've had the title for many years and I listen to it at least once every six months. It's one of the scores that put Mr. Kaper on the map for me.

It is indeed a lovely score, from a fine composer.

I've also acquired a few titles through trades recently. Wonderful thing getting to share music in that way. Which reminds me, are you still looking for a copy of CAPTAIN NEMO AND THE UNDERWATER CITY Mr. Jack?

Anyone else think the main theme sound almost identical to City Slickers?

One of Bronislau Kaper's very best. The Kingston Trio did it as well:

Gave this one the required 2nd play-thru whilst reading the track by track notes.

Wonderful score and damn I miss these packages. Nearly lost films, yet the music speaks for itself and the finest, detailed liner notes tell the story & history so well, I often don't feel a need to see the film.

The 'duty' theme puts me in mind of Waxman's CIMMARON, to where I was singing that lyric along to Kaper's score! Gonzo....yep.

P.S. LK
Thanks for your sweat in advocating Kaper. He was a composer I never knew and had zero interest in learning.
I have every BK FSM CD and adore his work. You answered a lot of dreams, but Kaper ( & Previn) will always be my most grateful 'shares'.

This thread reminded me that I bought this fine FSM CD last year but have not yet managed to listen to it... until now.

Golden Age bliss from Mr. Kaper. Great score, great composer. I'm very glad Lukas salvaged some of his output.

Thanks for the suite Bob!

Orbital - I held onto a few FSM's to fully enjoy later in life and this was one. Absorb the essay and play along with the track by track.

Kaper was such a wonderful find. The hunt cues here are highlights, great dry 60s orchestral scoring. And as noted, his skill at navigating dialogue scenes was exquisite. Tricky stuff.

Cheers!

Agreed, and I was very pleasantly surprised by this album.... probably a top 5 Kaper, for me. (And I have all the FSM Kaper releases including the box set.)
