I thought the remastering was very heavy handed on it... to the point of making the score sound very harsh with way too much high end... so the fact that Quarter are the same company (if I'm to have read the post correctly) worries me, because that might mean that the same issue will be there.
Hopefully, I'm wrong here.

Got my copy yesterday. Sounds fine. No problems at all.

The OP was referring to the original edition by Singular Records.

Of course. But he was suggesting there might be similar problems with the new version. I was stating that there aren't any.

Santa Claus arrived this morning. Spinning it now. It's stunning in every conceivable way.

I received my SANTA CLAUS 3 Disc Set yesterday and opened it this morning.

The Jewel Case basically disintegrated in my hands after taking it out of the bubble wrap.

Haven't played the music yet, but the Case it came in was shit. It's like they sent it in an already damaged case. Prongs all missing and discs not secure at all. Perhaps it was rough handlers in post.

I ordered through SAE, who are the best and it didn't look like their normal shipping box.

Anyway, no big deal,

I'll just go to my local Streetlight or Rasputin later and get a replacement case.

Book looks awesome!

I instantly grabbed the Singular Soundtrack CD back in 2009 and despite the compression and the CD just being the original LP content I still was happy to have it. But the 3 CD set by Quartet is something else. You can hear that they had the first generation masters. What a fresh and crisp sound. And the music ! AMAZING. That score definetely is one of my three all time favorite christmas scores (next to HOME ALONE and POLAR EXPRESS). Memorable themes, wonderfully orchestrated and perfectly performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra.
My only complaint is that they are called National Philarmonic Orchestra in the booklet smile Just kidding.
Many thanks to Quartet and everybody involved. And merry christmas to all of you.

LOL, I was just commenting to my wife that this is the first set I've received this year that wasn't broken!

The music is spectacular, the sound quality is perfect, and the liner notes are a nice read. Is it safe to assume any tracks with lyrics were co-written with Leslie Bricusse, except for the Sheena Easton and Kaja tracks?

Merry Christmas to everyone, and special thanks to Jose and the gang at Quartet for an amazing release!!!!

When these cases get broken I have found out it is completely with how they are handled during shipping, bottom line. The labels do their best to put them in the mailers, but how the folks in the shipping area's handle them is out of their hands. Could they pack these and ship them better, yes, of course. BUT with these smaller labels who have 1-3 mailers which is about ALL of them, it would literally take a month or two for everyone to get their orders. AND that would cut into their profit to get us new exciting releases. It's a bummer these things happen, but when you go to the grocery store and you pick up a small carton of strawberries, do you try to return them after a day or two when you find that a strawberry at the bottom wasn't in the best shape and/or un eatable razz

Forget the concerns.
This album is a pearler.
I didn't receive it in time to enjoy it before Xmas but nevertheless
It's one of Mancini's best scores. Every track is delightful. Sound quality is stunning.
This is my runner up for release of the year, 2nd only to FSM's King Kong.
Bravo Quartet!

Oh.... And the cue "Welcome to the 20th Century" is to die for.

Please change the thread title. smile

Every track is delightful.

I can do without Patch/Natch and Thank You Santa but otherwise I agree. The two other vocal tracks are also best enjoyed as an instrumental after Christmas is over.

Well, I am expecting this. Got my shipping notice on tuesday...

I never had the previous releases so I cannot comment but the samples at Quartet website for this release sound wonderful, and they put samples for almost half of the tracks.

The excellent sound made me buy it. Let aside the wonderful score, of course.

Any more love for this from yooz guyz this Christmas season? I bought the soundtrack when it came out, with both its score and the film sight unseen/heard. Just finally getting around to listening to it and it's a gem. The movie didn't overwhelm me, but I suspect it would have had I watched it as a kid. I think I'll give it another go next year, to see how I feel on a second viewing. Will play the heck out of the score, though.

Does anyone have the alternate (booklet) artwork as a hi-rez jpeg? Tried to find it on line and would rather not do the work myself if it already exists. Otherwise, you may find me posting it here if I can find the time.

Merry Christmas, SANTA CLAUS fans!

A couple of questions:

1. Does anyone know who the vocalist is on the alternate vocal version of "Thank You, Santa"? This appears on disc 2, track 13.

2. Track 22 on disc 2 is listed as a "TV Spot" on the back cover track listings, whereas in the booklet it's listed as "Choral Insert" - anyone know which is correct?

I'm assuming you wanted this one? I use that for my cover on my players because I prefer it to the default cover.

I did end up listening to this score while I was heading to Christmas eve services. I also tend to listen to it year round thanks to replacing the vocal tracks with instrumental cues nicely included elsewhere.
