I just read in another post on here that Quarter were originally Singular Records... if so, this concerns me with regards the new 3 CD Santa Claus The Movie release.

My concern is that Singulars release was pretty awful IMHO... and that's after they sent out the corrected edition (the original edition was mixed horribly wrong, using the wrong processors for remastering score music). I thought the remastering was very heavy handed on it... to the point of making the score sound very harsh with way too much high end... so the fact that Quarter are the same company (if I'm to have read the post correctly) worries me, because that might mean that the same issue will be there.

Hopefully, I'm wrong here.

It is something I have thought about, but just to have the music finally now makes me happy.

What happened with the original album re-release is they were given what EMI Records had. This time their source is much better to begin with.

Quit worrying until you've heard it.

Jeeze. Nothing like stirring the pot before it's even been put on the fire.

Seriously? Have you bought anything from Quartet records? Because I have and everything I bought was the highest quality of mastering. Unless there is some obvious error with the release, don't go spreading "concerns".

I've heard that despite the label's claims, this new release will only present one-fourth of the entire score.

Damn you, Quarter. Damn you.

I listened to the samples and they sounded INCREDIBLE to me and those were just samples from the net.

I wasn't upset about last yrs goof or whatever it was that happened but I'm also pretty low key kind if guy and these minor things don't upset me.

Do 4 Quartets still make a dollar these days?

Ever order from INTARTAR? They put out great CD's and even better sauce for your fish and chips.
Be sure to try the Doug Fake Cod Feast Basket!

Quartet initially did what they could for Santa Claus with the masters that they had. Regardless of how you felt about the corrected pressing, you can't deny that how Quartet handled the reissue was a model of good customer service.

I have many Quartet releases, and they are all top-notch productions, with excellent sound, good artwork and informative notes. I'm not worried about their Santa Claus in the slightest; it will no doubt be the best it can be. Quartet has more than earned my trust as a label.

I can only echo the positive comments about Quartet - the CD's that I have had from them have been absolutely superlative in all aspects. Order with confidence, I say.

Just received Revenge of the Pink Panther from them too. Only had time to listen to a couple of tracks but it sounds great. And a lovely booklet with some very detailed and excellent notes by John Takis. (Thank you John!) Contrast this with the bare bones presentation of the original (abbreviated) album.

Looking forward - hopefully - to an expanded Return of the Pink Panther at some point too.... smile

Excellent looking forward to hearing it (kind of hoping Curse gets a rerelease like Casino Royale did)

I have only ordered twice from Quartet, both were great experiences and the releases top notch. The only wrinkle was the rerelease of Casino Royale so soon after with an improved master for one of the albums (rerelease without remaster fine, rerelease with after a couple of years is okay, but 6 months?)

Glad you enjoyed them! This is an absolutely delightful score (particularly the "Oriental Dixieland" stuff) and it was a lot of fun to write about!

SANTA CLAUS is a gem, too. Mancini fans shouldn't miss either, IMO.

My pleasure smile

The thing is, Revenge gets dismissed lightly, and rather unfairly IMO, because of the disco/funk flavour which was especially emphasised on the original album release. I actually like that sort of thing myself - quintsssential Mancini 70's funk.

But there is some decent dramatic scoring too, on this expanded album.

Out of the recently released Curse and Trail PP albums, the 'new' Revenge is easily my favourite.

Mine arrived today, but when I opened the box there was no CD, just chunks of coal.

Of course I *have* been very naughty this year wink
