4 day ago was released another score for Evangelion movie saga with awesome music composed by Shiro Sagisu.
This time also with help of another great composer - Masamichi Amano as a an orchestrator and what a sound he brings. This is one of most exciting brass writting which I heard and for me is the soundtrack worth only for first track "Gods Message".
But thereĀ“s more - beautiful piano tracks, some guitar-choir-orchestra combination and for me specially satisfying organ with orchestra in track 13.

This was one of best score surprises this year...so if you want hear some samples click on link below.

Very nice. I like the show and I like the music.

I have the S2 box set of music from the series. It's really little more than a library of cues with endless repeats of the same tracks. Very hard to listen to and makes you appreciate a well curated album or set of albums (esp for TV series like this).

Excellent stuff in here. I still miss some of the old themes, like the core Thanatos melody/arrangement, and wished that they got reinvented again.

Very interesting.

I was never huge into anime as a whole but I still have my Evangelion DVD box. The music for End Of Eva was quite good too.

Whats the difference with these new DVDs? Are they director's cuts or entirely new series or what?

It's not a new series. It's a recut with new additional footage.

So its sort of what the Star Wars Special Edition is?

Would you say the new additions add a lot to the previous story?

I would say that they've taken the series, cut it down and added new stuff to make three new movies. I've seen only the first one and part of the second, and didn't think the effort was worth it to me. Though I do enjoy the new music.

Just listening to this score again today - and I'm still not tiring of it. It is an incredibly powerful and impressive work by Sagisu. I am eagerly awaiting his upcoming Godzilla score.

If any of you are looking to purchase this gorgeous 2 CD epic it is very reasonable from Amazon Marketplace resellers. I bought the 2CD album for around $15 CAD, used CDs coming from Japan in my experience are often in immaculate condition.
