I'm surprised. Tyler said that most of the Marvel films had his music as temp track, and they always tried to get him for score one of their films. So, it looks like he's going for the Avengers route like Silvestri, by scoring a sequel of a superhero movie.

It will be interesting to see how he'll redefine Thor, though I can see him using Doyle's themes since that they're much more established that the themes for the first two Iron Man scores.

I love parts of Iron Man 3 but found a lot of the album kind of boring. I'm interested though.

FilmMusicReporter.com is reporting Brian Tyler has signed on as the new composer.

Doesn't this man ever say "No" to anything?

He doesn't seem to have to.

Does this make him the first composer to score two standalone Marvel heroes? (See how I made Avengers a loop-hole?)

Elfman scored movies for Spider-Man and Hulk.

Another wasted chance for a good "superhero score".

Define "good superhero score". Iron Man 3 had a proper theme for Tony Stark that it was well recognizable on his heroics, but in his intimate moments (like Isolation).

And why should he in this case?

MARVEL really liked what he had done for IRON MAN 3 (Which was quite good IMHO) and I'm sure at this point they wanted to go with someone who had a good track record with them.

I'm sure he'll do a really good job.

OK. that's interesting... Marvel is not satisfied with the director, so they'll fire the composer and everything will be OK? What a bunch of assholes!

I like Brian Tyler plenty - but would like to see him attached to more projects that gave us the output of "The Killing Room" than yet another bombastic action movie.

I love his bombastic action scores, and apparently movie producers do as well.
