You lost me at "The Three of Woo" and "The Three of Woe".
And the merging of those cues is also present on the re-recording. Maybe it's something Poledouris liked? I don't know. Either keep the Varese version or edit the cues apart. Not a huge issue, though it's always annoying to have one little thing irritate you like a splinter.
I've finally cut loose some funds for this highly-anticipated release -- I know, I know... I can't imagine why it took me so long to finally purchase it. It's now on its way to me.
Without having to dig through several threads and pages of comments, can someone sum up the complaints and issues that have been brought up regarding this release? I seem to recall that there were more than a few upset people. I'm sure I'll enjoy it once I've listed to it, but I am curious about what people did not like about it.
Personally speaking I don't have any problems with the set. Both the complete score and the OST sound wonderful. Some people have gotten cross over a couple of cues crossfaded together but I don't find that anything to complain about and certainly nothing to put anyone off purchasing this set.
I recently watched Conan for only the second time on video, and then pulled out my Varese disc and played it and the Intrada release back to back. I was amzed at the improvement in the Intrada remix/remaster. Clearer, brighter sound, with details in Greg McRitchie's orchestrations shining through. Not to mention the additional music. Glad I sprung for the Intrada.
