Original Thread Title:
IDW's My Little Pony Comic #1 Sells 100,000 Units

...and also outsells Marvel Now and DC New 52.

Due to the massive volume of pre-orders, the release date of MLP:FiM comic #1 has been pushed back twice and now requires a second printing. The original release date of the comic, November 15th, had been pushed back to November 28th, and it has now been pushed back again to the week before Christmas.

The comic is written by Katie Cook and drawn by Andy Price.

(To correct her, Rarity is not a telekinetic nor is there a pony named "Pixie Pie")

The massive sales figures for a spin-off comic should speak volumes about the demand for a soundtrack CD release of the TV series. Any record labels listening?

Well, given how hot this show still is, it seems dumb not to strike while the iron is hot. If Space Ghost can get two CD releases, why not MLP?

I hope it happens for you bud.

I just find it somewhat hard to believe that, even after a year and a half of being aware of the massive brony fanbase, Hasbro hasn't seemed to show any confirmation of interest in releasing a soundtrack album. Perhaps they are working on one as I can't seem to get a straight answer out of anybody at Hasbro or Lakeshore - a season 1 album for Transformers Prime came out back in March through Lakeshore - but all I can do at this point is wait and hope they're actually doing something.

Shout! Factory is releasing season 1 in a 4-disc DVD set exclusively through Amazon.com, and when they started taking pre-orders back on a Friday in September, this release hit the #3 spot on Amazon's Best Selling DVDs over that weekend, beating out sales of The Hunger Games and The Walking Dead Season 2:

The show's (arguably) most popular song ("This Day Aria", done Disney-villain style, from the season 2 finale), which aired on April 21st, also has over 8 million views on YouTube:

If sales for a spin-off comic series and the season 1 DVD set can fly through the roof... why not a soundtrack?

Issue #1 of the MLP:FiM spin-off comic book series has now broken 125,000 copies sold (not counting online digital sales). This was mentioned in a new interview with Katie Cook and Andy Price, the comic's writer and artist.

The show has also won TVGuide's Best Fans Contest, just barely coming ahead of Doctor Who (The Walking Dead came in third).
