Screamworks Records presents

Thale (Raymond Enoksen & Geirmund Simonsen)

http://moviescoremedia.com/screamworks/2012/10/23/thale-raymond-enoksen-geirmund-simonsen/

Following last year’s surprise hit from Norway, Troll Hunter, the fantasy thriller Thale combines Norwegian folklore with contemporary thriller storytelling. The film has a quickly growing fanbase and is on the verge of reaching cult status, currently being shown in festivals and getting its US release early 2013.

Screamworks Records is proud to release the original score from the film, composed by Raymond Enoksen and Geirmund Simonsen who works out of Dreamscores Studios in Oslo. Their atmospherically rich and stylistically unique contribution to the film makes use of Norwegian folk music elements, beautiful cello, fiddle and vocal solos (sung by folk music specialist Liv Ulvik) and mesmerizing, ominous and foreboding electronic sonoroties. It is one of those scores that get under your skin with its seductive beauty and underlying elements of terror!

Cool! And what a great cover.

I didn't think the film was all that, but I'm happy to see Norwegian films getting soundtrack releases, no matter what.

Great work, Mikael!

I have the Norwegian Blu-ray release of Thale, and it's actually quite entertaining. A strange, original and atmospheric little film in my opinion. The music is also nice. A CD release would be great.

Erik, do you know whether the Norwegian blu is region-locked?

I believe it's region B locked.

Nice, although the composers are unknown to me, and I'm not into digital only releases.

FLUKT by Magnus Beite got a recent CD release, so looks like norwegian film music is on the rise.

Enoksen & Simonsen did the score for for instance Nordkalotten 365 (with Lars Monsen), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwtHGXVyCo4 (very Morricone/spaghetti western inspired I guess)

And they've also done the score for Berserk, and the music is available here: http://www.nrk.no/programmer/tv/berserk/1.6364518

That's the main things I know by them...

Magnus Beite have gotten some releases yeah (I wasn't aware of Flukt), like Appelsinpiken, as well as the Blåfjell films. I actually have the CDs, but haven't listened so much to them yet. The Blåfjell ones have some nice stuff it seems..., http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooQ5rqcA5lQ

Thanks very much for the link to the music for BERSERK. I enjoyed this very much.

Has anyone listened to this score? The clips are pleasant enough but not enough to get a handle on the score: how does it flow as a whole?

Haven't heard the score, but I remember a few bits from watching the movie (which wasn't all that, but decent enough on the low budget). A little bit of film music colour, but mostly ambient electronic textures.
