Jerry Goldsmith's score for the Twilight Zone episode "Back There" became a staple in just about every episode of "The Fugitive", which always struck me as amusing since that represented a change from the sci-fi origins of the piece (which was also reused effectively in "Death Ship")

J. Peter Robinson's RUMBLE IN THE BRONX and FIRST STRIKE scores have been recycled in a couple other Jackie Chan rereleases, including POLICE STORY. Oh, and of course, Jerry Goldsmith's RAMBO theme, used at least every 30 seconds in every episode of the old RAMBO cartoon. np THE PEACEMAKER complete

Herrmann's music was used extensively in the original "Lost in Space" TV series. Miklos Rozsa's music for the films he scored at Paramount in the early- and mid-1940s turned up later in Paramount films as diverse as A PLACE IN THE SUN, UNION STATION and THE COURT JESTER.

I'm sure many of you have heard composers work for television, composed for one series, or a film showing up in another series or film.. Some of this music (Bernard Herrmann's early television work is an example) showed up countless times in different venues from the original intent of the compositions..Do any of you have a story of hearing such pieces of music that you initially liked in one program, or film, and hearing it "re-used " in another?? The same music, but used in totally different scenarios whether in a film or on television. What were your feelings hearing the music, recycled, and seeing the ways it was used differently?? I'd like to hear some of your thoughts and experiences on this.. It's far more common then you might think... Mark Snow reused large portions of the X-FILES feature score in the weekly series. Portions of THE OMEN turned up in TRAPPER JOHN M.D for an episode about satan worshippers. Portions of Waxman's VIRGIN QUEEN turned up in several episodes of THE TIME TUNNEL. Portions of CHINATOWN turned up in an episode of ARLI$$. The TV Movie FIREBALL FORWARD used large portions of both PATTON and VON RYAN'S EXPRESS as it's score. Han Zimmer's original tracks to BROKEN ARROW turned up in SCREAM II. The Adventures of Don Juan were used in the finale of GOONIES. Portions of John Williams score to THE EIGER SANCTION were used in the Burt Reynolds film THE END. And the list goes on. As I said, it's far more common then you might think. Ford A. Thaxton

How about Bill Conti? Most, if not all, of his score to "Masters of the Universe" can be heard in numerous films. Try listening to the score in: ~Bushwhacked (with Daniel Stern) ~Spy Hard (with Leslie Neilson) I'm sure there're others. I see why they didn't produce a soundtrack album for these films. We already got one. Transpose it a few steps, make it a little more upbeat.....voila! Thanks for your time. Kevin "Zeke"

Waxman's "Bride of Frankenstein" was recycled by Universal for years.
