By the way, does anyone know why Crossroads (which ended up being re-orchestrated and truncated for a trumpet and woodwind-less orchestra in IWTB for "The Trip to DC"... just horns, trombones and strings) is different than the final version of the film?

It seems in the final film, they only used the opening part of Threnody in X for the main title and then tracked in the rest of Threnody in the scene that Crossroads was written for. Must have been a last minute decision, whatever the reason because it's not noted anywhere that the piece was dropped.

I personally love it - one of my favorite pieces on the whole score... very epic and would love to see more of the same on any 3rd movie score.

Unless I'm seriously mistaken "Threnody in X" are two different cues that were edited together for the FIGHT THE FUTURE album.

The first part is the Main Title, the 2nd part is the film version of "Crossroads", which uses a bit more of the X FILES theme then his first take at it which is called "Crossroads" on the album.

Does that make sense?

It certainly is a great cue, but I can understand why Carter and Bowman dropped it -- it's just a bit too epic and heroic sounding for the scene it's meant to accompany.

Also, here's a wonderful vid from Fimucite of Snow conducting performances of both "Crossroads" from FTF and "Home Again" from IWTB:

Very nice!

I keep hoping that they will release the entirety of the Fimucite performance of Bear McCreary's Battlestar Symphony. There is one clip of Apocalypse on there, but while good that is far from the best selections of the concert.
