Some great music in Harry O by Billy Goldenberg and others. I like to think that a CD release is possible.

I've only seen one episode when TVLand played it. Loved the program immediately. Don't remember much about the underscore, but everything about HARRY O was gloriously 1974. Kind of a Mannix Meets Rockford feel to it. David Janssen's peak was a bit before my time, and I've never seen an episode of The Fugitive, but his name was still legend to me. After seeing him as Harry Orwell, I liked him right away.

World weary rules.

I'm just going to have to drop the forty bucks and get the season one DVDs. I know that this is a show I am going to LOVE.

Just watched the episode "Eyewitness" on disc two. And after several average episodes, Eyewitness is a grabber. It's the best of the series so far. And you gotta love that theme weaving its way in and out of scenes. Love the 70s cars, streets and bad fashion. And the humor is just right in every episode. Janssen has a look that usually undercuts any tension in the room.

If you can find a copy or online, I highly suggest reading the excellent Harry-O article in the July 1997 issue (Number 10) of the late and lamented Television Chronicles magazine (with The Incredible Hulk on the cover). There's an extensive interview with Henry Darrow and behind-the-scenes stories.

I seem to recall that The John Gregory Orchestra did a great version of the HARRY O theme (along with a number of other classic TV Themes) back in the late 1970's, these recordings were issued in 2000 as this CD release:

Sadly it's out of print and not on ITUNES, but if you enjoy classic TV Themes, this album is well worth seeking out.

Hilariously, John Gregory's version of Harry O was one of the listed items on Rhino's Crimestoppers CD. It turned out to be Griff!

There are only about a dozen episodes, so I am not going to do the series now, but I decided to do this one because after "CHiPs" I felt like some more Johnson.

    Nice theme, especially version 1.

Funny... I found Harry O unwatchable when I was a child. A tad too middle-aged for me. wink I'd probably love it now. big grin

Loved Harry O when I was a kid! I wouldn't have been older than thirteen. At this time I loved all things american (here in the UK) on tv, and I remembered the star having already being the star of The Fugitive. I know I was around this age because at the time I had an art teacher in school called Mr Hoe. People familiar with many english local accents will know that we often drop the 'h', especially as kids. So we joyfully christened our art teacher 'Harry', as in 'O'.
