Could La La Land (or another label) release more music of Michael J Lewis in the future? (for example, the wonderful music for "The hound of the Baskervilles" or "Sphinx")?

HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES, SPHINX and THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE have all been released as "promos" on the composer's own label. In fact, I think he has had almost all of his scores released that way. I'm not quite sure what "promo" means, but the ones I've got have minimal liner notes - THEATRE OF BLOOD doesn't have any at all, but I think that one was re-released on a "proper" label, but with the same music. You can tell I'm making this up as I go along. I just had a quick gander at the store here in Spain where I do my shopping, and they have everything except SPHINX, all at 21 or 22 Euros. SAE on the other hand only seem to have his compilation CDs in stock at the moment...

Bloody hell, could you all just ignore me please? When I searched for "Michael J. Lewis" at SAE, it only showed his compilations. Now I can see everything! Goodbye!

It's funny, Eva - don't you know you should be ignoring me? - but depending on how I type Lewis' name, sometimes only his "Orchestral Film Music" compilation shows up at SAE. Your link, on the other hand, takes me to everything he's done. I will go away now.

Very nice covers there, Gorgo. I know the music's the thing, but those original promos are kind of unimpressive to look at.

I have long admired the music of Michael J. Lewis. When I was young (oh so long ago) I used to rush home after school and check out one of our local tv stations. Why? Because, they used to run horror films from time to time throughout the year. Many a Hammer film... several Dan Curtis titles... and one of their favorites to show... Theatre of Blood. Theatre of Blood... what a fun, and grisly (at times) movie. Laughs. Chills. And, there was my first real "listen" of Michael J. Lewis. Wow. His style struck a chord (no pun intended) and I loved it. Several years later I saw The Medusa Touch with Sir Richard Burton and Lee Remick. Instantly, I knew the composer was Mr. Lewis. There is a "hook" he puts in most of his scores that I find intoxicating. So stylish. Complex. So, let's jump forward a little more time... I was on a return flight from Los Angeles to Baltimore (we had just had a family reunion) and I decided to watch the movie they were going to play for those "paying" customers. What movie? Ffolkes. North Seas Hijack (it's other title). Very enjoyable action yarn starring Roger Moore and Anthony Perkins (in a delicious role). Along for the ride, Michael J. Lewis. Another gem. Personally, I am so glad for those promo releases of his music. I still have a few to get, but for the most part, I do have several of them. The most played... a tie. Theatre of Blood and Medusa Touch. For those not familiar with the composer... they really should pick up some of his work. True story... About 15 years ago one of my friends would constantly say how much they loved The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Keep in mind... they were not really a film score fan, but they loved the music. A couple of years ago I got them the promo release from SAE, where I have purchased all of mine, for their birthday. When it was opened, tears trickled down their face. It was a priceless moment... and the power of what film music can do. Thanks Michael J. Lewis for bringing us wonderful music.
