Anyone else madly in love with the revised "healing process"? I can't get enough of that track, love the transitions, that beautiful trumpet leading into the climatic part, for some reason that reminds me a lot of his 'hollow man' finale. I always felt the original version of "healing process" was a bit of a dud compared to the action material that preceded it on the album, and Goldsmith's repeating synth loop building up to the choir 'awe' (the rejected shrinkage of Ruafu) was a bit on the uneventful side for me; the revised version however, though it has its share of filler bars, matches the excitement and intensity of the earlier 'Not Functioning' and 'Drones Attack' and tops it with that beautiful finale! I can't stop listening to it smile

In a post above, I wholeheartedly agreed with you :-)

Now, here's hoping that Varese relents and allows a complete release of Nemesis & either lets someone else do it or doesn't butcher it.

I just received the expanded album today and LOVE it! Instead of reading this whole thread, could someone tell me if I should hang on to the 1998 album? Is there stuff on the 1998 album that isn't on the new one?

Hi Gang - hope everyone loves the new Insurrection CD from Crescendo. Just a heads up to KEEP your original CD for the album program, and the few album edits/takes that are unique to that disc—it's still in print and sounds great, which is why the new disc is a 1 (and not 2) disc set. The new album is a unique program of the score as heard in the film, plus some extras.

Does anybody know which particular tracks on the expanded release differs from the ones on the original album?

At least two (I don't have the new one, but I know these), which includes the finale the finale.

There's a variation of the opening credits, but I don't know if that was used on the new GNP release.

One of them is Children's Story - the album version is longer and it is a lovely piece (IMO the main reason to keep the original album).

The original album versions of "Ba'Ku Village" and "In Custody" are trimmed slightly. The former shortens the dissonant electronic stings when Starfleet's hidden base is discovered, the latter misses off the final sustained note.

"Children's Story" however (as has been pointed out) is lengthened.

Ya I definitely prefer the original album version of "Children's Story" more. In fact I replaced the original album version for the film version when I added the score to my iPod.

Thanks a lot for info.

So the only reason to keep the original album is expanded version of "Children's Story". Is it right?
