Slacking here, so here's an oldie but goodie from Bob Mould (Husker Du fame)...

Probably in my Top 2 favorite Natalie Merchant songs...

Natalie Merchant - Life Is Sweet

This song is ahead of the author's years IMO. It is an ode with such rich heritage. (Is it French or Irish? I dunno...)

Beirut - A Sunday Smile

I'm thinking it has a Byrdsian influence, but nonetheless if seems to have that sunny/dreamy '60s feel...

Reeler, I may not share most of your interests here, but a big RESPECT from me for keeping your own thread alive.

Thank you, losher. smile

I remember this track being played on local college radio and instantly attached to it. I believe at the time these kids might have not yet been out of high school. The multi-part backing vocals are just sensational...

Avi Buffalo - What's In It For?

I think this is a newish Mum track. I couldn't locate it on youtube so alas... it is title "0000Oro"...

Edit: My bad. It is a track from the 1998-2000 period from a compilation.

This Canadian duo has been getting quite a bit of buzz lately with their album release "Shrines". For me anyway it is quite exciting to hear some well crafted electro-pop music that is a little bit off-kilter with spoken word vocals...

Purity Ring - Lofticries

The rest of the world needs to catch up with whatever is happening in Iceland. You can probably hear a little bit of Sigur Ros influence with the chamber sound.

Where ya been, Reeler?! smile Looking forward to more samples my friend!

Ever heard of Klimt 1918? I got hooked into them from my love of Katatonia, and was introduced to "Disco Awayness" through Terrorizer magazine, even though Klimt 1918 is a modern-day emo/post-rock band at their core. Check 'em out:

I've been listening to this one daily. It has replaced "A Storm In Heaven" as my favorite Verve album. I think because I'd never been sure of their abilities live. I'd just assumed it wasn't transferable from the studio, but, alas, they truly did it IMO. More a cosmic experience and one of maybe a few times I've reached musical paradise...
