I just saw this topic in another forum, and i thought it would be fun.

What is your most wanted Bluray, which is unreleased yet? The film which you're looking forward to most, and check regularly the internet for any news on its release etc..

Attention: You can name ONLY 1. Not any lists of films you would like to be released. And not Blurays that have already been announced (eg E.T., Indiana Jones etc.)

I know it's hard, but it would be interesting to know what anyone would pick if he had only one choice.

Well, mine is:
RAINTREE COUNTY, roadshow version, fully and lavishly restored!

Well that was probably me talking about 1941.

Having thought about that I think '41 is still high on my list but I think ultimately I would prefer True Lies, of the best action flicks ever. The DVD was a pathetic vanilla version. And the Region2 version was actually cut!

Good choice! I also love that film! wink

Elite Squad HAS been released (with English subtitles), so you can erase that from your list. wink

"Psycho II". (With an isolated score track, in the perfect scenario.)

TRUE LIES (James Cameron said two years ago he would be working on a Blu-ray version of TRUE LIES.....I'm still waiting).

Since my Top 10 favorite movies are already out or coming out on Blu-Ray, I'll throw in another shout for True Lies. The DVD was great for the time, but being non-Anamorphic widescreen it just looks ugly to watch nowadays. I'd love to see all the deleted scenes/footage, as there are quite a number of them, some of which even appeared in the trailer.

Oo, if I was to keep it to just one, I'd have to choose a stonking looking, The Last Valley, & throw in an isolated music track!

A special edition DVD of True Lies was in the works back in 2001 but got canceled due to 9/11. Cameron may be still seeing parallels between the film and bin Laden.

But anyway, my single most wanted is Abel Gance's Napoleon. With the space that Blu Ray allows, both the Brownlow and Coppola restorations could fit one disc. Also, those 4:1 aspect ratio scenes would be a sight on home formats.

It is flawed - but I love Young Sherlock Holmes, it would be great on BluRay

The UK DVD was a butchered mess with loads of cuts to make the film more family friendly. Compare to the VHS release the following edits were the most obvious:

The fight between Tasker and two Crimson Jihad baddies in the rest room at the Georgetown Park Mall is most heavily heavily cut but, interestingly uses substitute footage to pad the running time so that the edited scene still runs the same length as the proper cut.  Basically, for every cut, the UK dvd substitutes a shot of the old guy in the toilet cubicle.  The actual shots missing are:

Harry head-butting one of the baddies (the BBFC absoluetly hate head butts.  Scenes of anal rape are apparently fine but head huts are a total no-no with them).

Cut is the shot of Tasker ear clapping one of the baddies.

On the DVD the baddie is hit twice with the hand dryer Harry has pulled from the wall.  The third hit is cut.

The shot of the baddie having his head shoved into the urinal is missing.

Later on when Harry is test driving the Corvette, a shot of Simon's face (battered and bloodied in Harry's imagination) is missing (a reverse angle off Arnie)

The other most overt editing is when Harry and Helen are trying to escape from Aziz's hideout in the Florida Keys:

The shot of Harry breaking the neck of the torture expert is cut as is the preceeding shot of the guard getting a knife in his eye.

The shot when Tasker impales a baddie on a hook is gone.

You see Harry descending upsidedown by a rope but the shot of him breaking the baddie's neck is cut.

Hopefully the blu fay version will restore all of the above and give us some deleted scenes too. There is certainly a wealth of behind-the-scenes footage including a lengthy look at the shooting of the breathtaking Harrier sequence at the film's climax.

I recently mentioned this in another thread but as there seems to be quite a few fellow fans of True Lies here I thought it would be worth posting this again. I'm such a big fan of the movie that, framed on the wall of my home office is the original prop credit card Harry Tasker's was given by Gib, which is in the name of Harry Renquist.

I have a few other original props from Cameron movies including two steerage class tickets for Titanic which are printed in reverse ( all the Southampton scenes were flopped and then printed in reverse - ask me if you want to know more) and one of the prop dinner plates. But I really do like the prop from True Lies - I just think it looks really cool on my wall. It cost a small fortune but at the time I was going through a fairly crappy period in my life and so bought it to cheer myself up.

Shonen Sarutobi Sasuke -- (known as "Magic Boy" in the US) the Toei Studio's wonderful full length animated fantasy. I have the Japanese import anamorphic DVD, which all things considered looks great, but a restored bluray with subtitles would be amazing -- and, as they say, would make my heart sing.
which is an even tie with:
Three Treasures (The Birth of Japan a.k.a. Nihon Tanjô) -- the great Japanese epic fantasy with a wonderful Ifukube score. I have the import DVD with isolated score -- but an upgrade is at the top of my want list.

There are so many classic Toei Studio animated films that I long to have on Bluray in their original Japanese language versions -- but I doubt I will live long enough to actually see that happen -- The Tale of the White Serpent, Alakazam the Great, The Little Prince and the Eight-Headed Dragon, Jack and the Witch, The World of Hans Christian Andersen, Sinbad the Sailor, and many more. I've collected as many of these as I could find on import DVD -- but they all deserve restoration and upgrades to blu.

Well, one that comes to mind is EXTREME PREJUDICE - I think that would be a great Blu Ray, especially that great shoot em' up at the end - the DVD that I have now kind of sucks, being in full screen and rather flat-looking...:-)

I'd have to give this more serious thought, as in fact many of the titles I like have decent widescreen transfers with good audio tracks on dvd...

For now I'll say I'd definitely want the X-files on blu-ray and given the same treatment as TNG's upcoming sets...
