Now that my copy of TDKR arrived, I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Besides the 15 tracks, the 5 bonus tracks I have are:

Bombers over Ibiza (Junkie XL Remix)
The Shadows Betray You
The End
No Stone Unturned
Risen From Darkness

Are there any other tracks that have been released from other vendors?

You're missing "All Out War", which I believe was an exclusive of MovieTickets.com or something like that.

I don't think that MovieTickets.com is offering the "All Out War" track anymore. I tried to get it about a week ago and all the links to the track appear dead.

Though you would have thought someone would have recognised at an early juncture that the chant does indeed - as has been widely observed - sound like "Fish Pasta" and changed it. It is a little distracting.

Except the chant translates from Moroccan Arabic "deshi basara" as "he rises" in the English language. Which involves the score in the story of the film, as both Bane rises from exile and hiding to finish the bidding of his tutor, and Bruce Wayne rises from his defeat to save himself and his city.

... so why would they change it because it might sound similar to "fish pasta" (it doesn't, Tom Servo details the phonetics above, even "deshi" features two syllables while "fish" only contains one)?

It is quite funny in the scene where Bruce is trying to do his big climb and it feels like all the other prisoners are gathering around to give him their takeaway orders. (Perhaps in the spirit of Monty Python, a lone voice is crying out -- 'falafel!')

I totally get the reasoning for it, it's just distracting. I can make myself not hear it, for sure, and it doesn't spoil a sensational score. Particularly at decent volume, or with no background noise, where the extra syllable is more audible. However, the widespread nature of the observation is evidence that it does "sound like it", even if it does not "sound exactly like it".

FROWN.

MIGHTY FROWN.

I don`t want to participate in a scavenger hunt for music I paid for. The first thing that happens when such is the necessary predicament is I get out a double CD case, for the upcoming 'new copy' burn job. With the emphasis on 'job' i.e. task i.e. chore.

I went to the watertower site to access these missing tracks and...

We're sorry but access is not allowed from your country

FROWN.

We`re sorry - good music cannot be heard in its totality from your location. Epic themes do not transcend borders.

Agreed completely. I posted a reply of similar disdain and frustration in a DKR track order, I believe. I just think it's BS that if one pays for a release, we don't get, or at least get access to, all tracks available. I am NOT an advocate for it, in fact I hate it, but that type of thing just encourages illegal downloading of mp3's. That's exactly what I'm trying avoid others doing by investing in the CD in the first place. I haven't yet created my "new copy" of DKR, but agree, it's a pain in the ass doing it; for the better scores I'll put in the effort, but that makes it no less frustrating.

Can these app tracks be listened to independent of the app? Or do you have to open the app to listen to them?

Okay. What's the deal with this app?

Does the app come with tracks or do you have to isolate it?

the plot has leaked:

BANE engineers a leveraged buy-out of Wayne Enterprises.
After firing all the employees he outsources the jobs to India and China.
He then proceesds to liquidate all of Bruce Wayne's physical assets including the Batmobile, Batplane, Batcave, Wayne Manor etc.

At the end of the film Batman?Bruce wayne is penniless and homeless.
Victory, BANE!
bruce

ps this not a political post, it is a SATIRiCAL post

holy shit!
i wasn't far off the mark!!!
LOL!

btw does anyone else hear an echo of Shirley Walker's BATMAN theme in Zimmer's?
a tribute perhaps to his mentor?

Interesting video interviews with Zimmer about the app.

Excellent!
Unlike the first two of the trilogy, this is an enjoyable listening experience apart from the film.

Kudos to Hans, for producing an "album"
Save me the trouble of having to do it for him (see: CAPTAIN AMERICA, THE AVENGERS ...)

So, I've held off buying The Dark Knight Rises so far in the hope of an extended edition coming out (as happened with The Dark Knight), but I just borrowed the TDKR album from the library and have been playing it in my car all week and really think I just need to own this music already. I'm thinking of getting the CD release, which should come with two downloadable bonus score tracks, and maybe getting the additional bonus score tracks off iTunes too.

Almost a year ago, someone in this thread mentioned that someone at hans-zimmer.com said they were in touch with Zimmer himself and that the whole score would be made available in time. I've of course taken this with a grain of salt, yet remain hopeful for an extended release. Anybody have any thoughts on the likeliness (or unlikeliness) of an ultimate edition coming out in the next year?

If you've waited this long you may as well wait a little more.

Zimmer did indeed say that a complete score release for all of the films was a good possibility. WB even pre-announced an ultimate collector's edition trilogy set when the current trilogy set was released. So i think it may be safe to assume a soundtrack tie-in may be released with that sometime this year.

Keep in mind: the collectors edition of the previous Batman score came out at the same time as the regular disc.

Though its not impossible, an expanded Dark Knight Rises seems less likely now.

Thanks for the feedback both of you. I think I'll wait a while longer. I'm sure an expanded Dark Knight Rises will be coming at some point...just a question of when. An expanded Batman Begins would be awesome, too. Especially those terrific end credits.

I didn't really, unless I'm totally wrong. Not that it matters.

Kinda sucks that they'll do a collector's edition of one movie in a series and not the next (I'm thinking of Harry Potter 7 pt one here as well). But I guess the obvious answer is that the collector's sets don't sell very well. Although, if the Hobbit and Man of Steel are any kind of example, the powers-that-be seem to be learning people would rather have two full discs at close to regular price than a ton of cheap throwaway extras at three times the cost.
