Looks like the score comes out July 17th on Watertower Records. I kind of like the minimalist approach taken to the cover.

I don't know how I'll feel about this one. It's Zimmer's turn to go solo instead of pairing with JNH this time. I do like some of his output recently (Inception and Kung Fu Panda 2), but am somewhat lukewarm on others (POTC 4). What are your anticipations?

Can't wait for this one. Zimmer's music is like another character in the films. I think the chant he came up with and the way he went about creating it is innovative and a great addition to the Batman music trilogy.

What a great cover! I'm looking forward to what Zimmer comes up with this time.

I'll give it a whirl. Curious to see what that worldwide recorded chant comes up as.

I have to admit, Zimmer seems to be ripening with age.

Hopefully the 3rd times the charm. Tbh, I'm more curious about what Nolan's got up his sleeve with the film than what Zimmer does with the score.

As I get older, I have mellowed on Zimmer. I don't expect him to write something at the level of Shostakovich or Bartok. That's not his thing. Honestly, most guys in Hollywood these cannot anyhow. So why expect so much? For what he does, which is approach scoring in a texture and sonic based idiom, I think he's pushing the envelope of creativity. It's not traditional music but it is interesting.

I hope he throws in some new ideas and develops his Batman theme some more. I do really enjoy "A Dark Knight" from The Dark Knight soundtrack. To me, it's like Tangerine Dream meets Wagner or something like that. There's that Teutonic element coupled with some interesting electronic textures all wrapped up in a delicious culmination track. It makes for very enjoyable listening.

Anyhow, I'm happy with Zimmer scoring Batman and Horner scoring Spiderman. Should be a summer with some interesting scores.

Wonderfully put.

I too am anxious as to what Nolan has got up his sleeve this time. THE DARK KNIGHT is a tough act to follow.

And I had no idea Horner was scoring Spiderman! That is interesting!

I'm a Batman junkie, so I'll definitely be getting this, but I won't be rushing out to get it, unless there's no chance that a Collector's Edition will follow.

It would be nice to have had Howard back as well as I enjoyed his input into the first two, but looking forward to seeing what Zimmer comes up with for this final installment.
Will be getting this one, and if they do another collectors edition - then I will get that one as well.
I like the first two soundtracks and love the way Zimmer assembled them (I much prefer a good listening experience to a C&C) so yep, looking forward to this one. With Horner's Spiderman coming out in July as well it should be a good month.

Awesome cover. Really looking forward to this one! One of those rare instances that I cannot think of a composer that would better fit Nolan's vision of Batman. I know Zimmer doesn't get a lot of love on these boards but the Dark Knight was an awesome soundtrack so I cannot wait to hear what Zimmer has up his bat-sleeve for this one.

P.S. Does anyone else think the trailers have given us the last shot of the movie, the scene with Batman on top of that skyscraper looking out at Gotham - in the same way that the Dark Knight trailers showed us the last shot with the Bat bike?

Is the cover art in the main post real or fan made? Where did it come from?

I'm a Batman fan and I'll agree with the above assessments that Hans Zimmer seems to be improving with age as he experiments a bit more, but outside of a few TDK moments dealing with the Joker, I was not a big fan of the two prior Nolan/Zimmer Batman scores (or at least, not a big enough fan to pick up the $50 mildly expanded set of TDK). Hopefully this one stands out a little better.

Is the world wide chant in the trailer?

But is it the real cover, or something a fan made?
