Wondering if anyone has heard these GREAT private lps by George Romanis on the Futura Music Inc. label? A friend let me listen to his copies and I was BLOWN AWAY. Music by George! contains themes from Hawaii Five-O, The Storefront Lawyers, Medical Center, Mod Squad, and The New People. Does anyone have contact info for George to see if he has any of these stored away in his garage?

I love George Romanis!

Years ago I found about 10 never played copies of his DOUBLE EXPLOSURE LP Album in the $1.00 section of my local RASPUTIN RECORDS. They looked cool so I laid out 10 bucks and gobbled them up.

In the next 2 months I sold 6 of them on ebay for $50.00 each and still have 4 left.

I LOVE GEORGE ROMANIS!

Thanks!!!

Steve

That album was probably released in '61, because the Decca arrow wasn't seen on the covers until '62 (which was also the logo for M.C.A.'s U.K. branch), but was not seen on the labels.

Looking at "Jay"'s posting history, that was his one and only post. I don't think you'll be hearing from him again.

Yes, I checked that, too, and I am sure you are right. George Romanis seems to have two different kinds of private records issued in very limited numbers, some one-sided jazz records and a series of soundtrack-recordings on FUTURA named the "The Sound Library of George Romanis". Probably "Jay" had 5 of the first ones, whereas I am looking for his soundtracks. I completely agree with the first poster that his soundtracks are awesome. I have 3 of those by now, including SAIL TO GLORY, which seems to be - according to the IMDB - his first OST assignement. No idea, how many of his scores he put on vinyl, but probably more than 3. Whoever has any of these, please write to me. I will pay good money to get more.

Any info if he is still alive? I have not find any news about his passing, so he might be, although probably in his 80ies or even older. Just wondering. I just wish that more people would realize his genius. His OSTs should be re-issued as "The genius of George Romanis" on some OST-label. A pity that FSM has stopped releasing OSTs. Totally forgotten today and mainly "just" a TV-composer, he did a marvellous job nevertheless! Thanx God he made those private recordings, so there is still hope he gets his due.

Any relatives out there, please write!

He's alive, but his wife now handles correspondents in e-mail.

I've probably tripled his IMDb credits over recent years.

Without speaking out of turn, she's handling it for reasons.

Check out the samples page -- quite a number, though mostly TV commercials.

I will!!
