They BOTH constitute a first edition. If no amendment - sorry, change - is made, then there most definitely is a problem. I'm surprised that you , a former journalist, cannot see that.

First edition, second edition..................... Who does this stuff matter to?
Certainly not the majority of us who just want access to the music. It matters to the anal minority who 'collect' rather than listen. Who want to sit with an unopened cd in their hands and feel a warm glow run through their veins as they reflect that they own something that few other people own and that others are prepared to pay big money for.
It's really quite sad.

David Hotmire of TN will be receiving his Rosza set+the other box sets Tues/Weds, Jay McCracken of KS will be receiving his Herrmann CDs Weds/Thurs (shipping out tomorrow), Adam Sutterman of IL will be paying for his Goldsmith CDs today (shipping out tomorrow), James Cramton of the UK will be receiving his Superman Box sometime in the next two weeks, Timothy Brinkerhoff of NY,NY will be getting his order Tues/Weds, Pedro Pérez of Peru (who knows how long that will take), your package will go out tomorrow. Do I need to go on? Sorry to those who have acquired about certain titles that I did not have, I did not buy everything that was released by FSM.

1) Lukas has NOT lied - he has been open with everyone for his reasons for printing more copies. Reasons that are completely understandable. He has been comletely open & honest!

Lukas also said that most of the FSM Rozsa releases had sold around 1200. Therefore 2000 would have seemed to be a reasonable amount.
What you are missing, Eric is that things CHANGED. Lukas misjudged the demand.
The 2000 copies sold out in 2 weeks. In the light of the changed circumstances Lukas changed his mind and ordered another 2000 to meet the demand and make some money from a successful release. Remember, some of the FSM releases have made Lukas a loss.
No lies just the head of a business changing a decision in the light of changed circumstances.
In a few months, FSM the label will be gone and I'm sure we'll all miss one of the very best soundtrack labels and regret spending time discussing something as trivial as this.

Oxford English dictionary definition of 'LIE' is
An INTENTIONALLY false statement.
The statement was false but at the time it was made, Lukas didn't know that Ben Hur would sell all 2000 copies in 2 weeks.
Therefore it was NOT intentional.
Therefore Lukas did not lie.

And again, I ask Erik Donovan: WHY ARE YOU STILL POSTING ON LUKAS' MESSAGE BOARD?
Then again, I think we all know the answer to that is because he is enjoying the attention.
Peter, you are trying to talking reasonably to someone who is not reasonable. Let him think what he likes, you're not going to change his mind. Perhaps if we all stop responding to him this thread might finally die.

Well, it clearly matters to soundtrack producers like Doug Fake, who admits to being a collector, like many FSM posters in this thread. Allow me to reproduce a couple of word-for-word quotes from Mr Fake. They both come from the Intrada website and can be easily accessed. (I included the quotes in an earlier post that few people seem to have read.)
“Investments help keep our free enterprise system chugging along. So we're literally branding any "second editions" and whatnot accordingly. I myself collect "first editions", so this lets me continue doing so. If your EXPLORERS has the original 3000 number on it, yep, it's a "first edition". Just like the world of books and whatever.[...] Now, we know we can't have our cake and eat it, too. But maybe we can do something to help keep the lunatics from running the asylum. So... look for branding that distinguishes first editions from second editions and whatever.”
But it’s not just soundtrack producers who care about press-runs and the dependability of soundtrack labels. Here’s a post from “Doug’s Corner Archive” – written by Mr Fake when he was considering repressing Inchon:
“All of this stuff is aimed at you people. You're the market. The powers that be know this. The suits at 20th Century Fox and Universal and Sony and Disney and MGM and the musician's union and everyone else. They know you make up a very small audience. They know it's expensive to produce this music and if there isn't some air of loyalty and dependability that can be counted on the results won't justify the costs. Some of you may think they don't otherwise care about all this stuff but I think they do. The people I negotiate with seem to care.”
