This is a comments thread about FSM CD: It's Alive

Okay, I'm confused. I thought there was some reference in the other Herrmann thread to title being something that had been recently released. As far as I know the tracks from the first film have never been released, and the CD of the second film could hardly be called a recent release. Not that it makes any difference, but I'm just curious what this clue was in reference to.

Not quite, Jason. It just says it's the final celebration of Herrmann's centennial. Not the final Herrmann they're putting out.

After this title, FSM only has 4 titles left coming ever. Surely those 4 titles will be out in the next 2-3 months. I don't think if one of them was going to be a Hermmann, they would have worded the info for this one like that.

Well, "final tribute to the composer at the end of his centennial celebration" doesn't imho mean that it's the FSM's final Herrmann disc. Just that it might have been supposed to be released at the end of 2011, which marked the Herrmann centennial, but we'll see... it would be nice to get someone else for a change - quite recent Frank deVol's centennial for example didn't bring a single CD containing his music.

His birthday is June 11, so his centennial celebration is from June 11 2011 to June 10 2012. Also, the catalog number is 15-02 not 14-xx, so it wasn't intended to come out last year.

It's definitely FSM's final Hermmann disc.

I wonder who the final 4 composers are?

Well, that "clue" came from someone who wasn't affiliated with FSM, so... whatever.

Does it even matter? If there's another Herrmann in the pipeline, there's another one in the pipeline. If there isn't, then there isn't. The wording doesn't mean a damn thing.

For that matter, what's the point of coming into this thread if you're not going to talk about the CD that is its subject?

Question! These pages say this release is unlimited:

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/cds/detail.cfm/CDID/483/Its-Alive/
http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/cds/list.cfm
http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/17434/

But the back cover art posted on FSM says that its limited to 3,000 copies:

Which is right?

Apparently, some posters believe that there is only one thing wrong with the FSM CD. It's issued.

This is our last Herrmann title. We're planning on 3000 copies which is as much as if not more than we've sold of On Dangerous Ground so I plan on them being around for a while. I have loved this demented score ever since I heard it on a terrible-sounding, dub-of-a-dub cassette in the early '90s. While it's too bad the stereo masters are long lost, we used first-generation mono mixes vaulted at Warner Bros.

So nice to know people high up care about obscure goodies like this... especially when others on this board (Steve! Steve? Yoo-hoooooooo?) are quick to dismiss it. smile

Unfortunately, a car accident is taking up my funds at the moment, but what finances permit, this is ordered, I promise.

To Lukas..."You guys are the virtual Stud Muffins of the modern filmmusic genre.." I wrote these praising words to FSM nearly 2 decades ago when they released POSEIDON ADVENTURE and I still hold these words true to them...

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for IT'S ALIVE and all the other great releases exclusive to FSM.

May the gods adore you!

I've never seen the film or heard the tracks and I have always wanted to get it because of my love for BH's music. Thanks FSM for this release!

I'm sad that it isn't OBSESSION, but IT'S ALIVE was in my top-five Herrmann wants, so I will order it shortly. Good, but not great news, for me.

I feel sad for the guys at FSM. For their not releasing Obsession, they are not going to get their…appreciation from Jim Cleveland. big grin

Well.. I'm definitely sad that it isn't Obsession, but am pleased beyond measure that "It's Alive"(Notice my adorable little pun there?big grin)!

However, if Lukas and company will open their windows tonight at MIDNIGHT, I will yell a heartfelt "Thank you!" from here in Danville!big grinbig grinbig grinbig grinbig grin
