Jim needs to listen to some Steve Roach and relax. Not that I'm saying he's paranoid or nuthin... razz

WHAT? WHO SAID THAT??????? razz

I'm listening to Dust To Dust for the first time in years, and I forgot just how good it is... quite a departure for Roach, yet not too dissimilar from his atmospheric space music(Or DATsimliar, for that matter....HAH!)!.

Too bad Michael Stears won't return to his roots, and release another CD.... I would LOVE it if he would perform another work on the Serge!!!!

Stearns was supposed to re-release the wonderful Planetary Unfolding on CD , but that's been pending for about 3 years now. I have a few of his other CD's, Encounters, M'Ocean etc; but nothing compares to that one from his catalog.

Also Kevin Brahney's The Way Home is gorgeous space music, that is on CD but missing on disc is the lovely Lullaby For The Hearts Of Space.

David Lange's Return Of The Comet is one I've always had a soft spot for, too . He released an expanded version recently

I have the Braheny CD... I wished they didn't change the title; when it was on LP and cassette, it was called Perelandra, which I thought was just such an enigmatic title!
I also have Return of the Comet.. REALLY nice music there!
As I said before, Stearns' Planetary Unfolding is the yardstick by which all other space music CDs are measured!
His website hasn't had an update in about 8 years, and you can no longer order from the website, which is VERY frustrating! I DO have all the good stuff of his, especially Morning Jewel("Jewel" is probably my FAVORITE composition by him, especially if you know just HOW he went about composing it!), Lyra(Which is some amazing stuff!), Sustaining Cylinders(Which is sort of cast from the same mild as "Jewel"), Ancient Leaves, which is alright for a first release but I wouldn't recommend it.
I would love for someone to release Lullaby For The Hearts of Space. If you've ever looked at Braheny's website, he seems to have gone all goofy(Best if you just look at his site!)!big grin

OH!! A bit of Stearns trivia....
About three years ago, I was playing Bejeweled 2, and as I was playing it, I was also enjoying the music....then something caught my attention. "I've heard this before", I said out loud. I thought about it for a grand total of about 5 seconds and realised that the person who composed the music for Bejeweled 2 ripped-off Stearns music for CHRONOS!!!! It was about a 30 second lift, but I actually e-mailed Stearns to tell him about it, and it took him several listens before he HEARD it. He wasn't upset, though... I actually think he was kind of flattered!

Thanks again Jim - lots of information for the Roach-uneducated. Looks like I have some homework to do!

Well...it's over SIX YEARS LATER... I'm sick as a dog.... there's 15 inches of fucking SNOW on the ground... thought I would bump this thread.
Right now I'm listening to Roach's CD entitled Painting in the Dark... one of the best he's done. I've also been playing Nostalgia For The Future a LOT! Both titles(Which I just received a little over a week ago, along with Texture Maps) are HIGHLY recommended!!!

I love it ( but it sounds like the most boring lp ever ; and I am a drummer! )

Thank goodness for Steve Roach and his music, in this topsy-turvy time we're living in. I've been listening to him a lot these past few weeks.

I discovered his "Dreamtime Return" earlier this year. Magnificently produced and hypnotic. This is music to play when you're exploring desert country.
