JANE EYRE (Theme)
Does anyone have, know the whereabouts of, or have any leads as to where I might get an original copy or a photocopy of John Williams' Theme from JANE EYRE (1971)?

I once found someone in Japan who supposedly had a photocopy to offer, but when I clicked on the link...I got infected with a virus. frown

Apparently, the Special Collections Division of Vanderbilt University has director Delbert Mann's personal papers and the inventory lists "sheet music." I don't know how many hoops I'll have to jump through before they say yes or no.

The sheet music was published in England:
JANE EYRE (Theme) (Charter Film Music 80970) (1971) (3 pages) (20 pence) (UK Issue)

I'm not expecting an avalanche or replies to this one, but you never know unless you ask.

RIDE TO THORNFIELD
As an aside, is there any complete video that includes the "Ride to Thornfield?" Every one that I've seen cuts from the cemetary to Jane's already having arrived at Thornfield, omitting the scene entirely. What a shame this great music was trimmed from the video.

That doesn't look like a commercially available version of this music, but a transcription that someone made after listening to the score, created with a program like Finale.

Sounds fairly good, with a few misplaced g sharps. So much for western music.

Dear "Lord of the Forest",

This is such exciting news! Congratulations on owning such a rare sheet music item!
Can you divulge how you came into possession of JANE EYRE?

You and I are contemporaries - we both started collecting soundtracks in the early '60s.
I see from your FSM data that you are on the other side of the world in New Zealand.
Your FSM name, appropriately, is a clever alias. Tane Mahuta is a giant kauri tree in New Zealand, whose name translates from Maori as "Lord of the Forest."

Let me be plain.

If you would be willing to part with your copy for a VERY substantial sum, please contact me ASAP.

If you would not wish to part with your copy, would you be willing to make an excellent color copy of the front cover and black and white copies of the rest for a generous but reasonable fee.

I suspect that I won't be the only one making such a request. If that turns out to be the case, PLEASE do not sell it without giving me a chance to participate.

I don't know if there is something for which you would consider a trade, but I thought I'd mention that option also. Give it a shot.

when you're talking about Jane Eyre sheet music you're all talking about a piano only version?

Because I'm sure you know that a suite for orchestra has been released by Hal Leonard, don't you?

Well here you are again, Grant. You and I are both part of the KING OF KINGS kickstarter group going to Prague in November. And this was my original post back in 2012. I'm still looking for a quality color copy of the cover and black and white copy of the note pages, as long as it is JANE EYRE (Theme) (Charter Film Music 80970) (1971) (3 pages) (20 pence) (UK Issue).

If you can contact me at BurbellaRon...at...cs...dot...com, we can conclude my getting at least a photocopy. If there is any possibility of your selling or trading JANE EYRE, maybe I can help subsidize your trip to Prague. smile

As we are contemporaries, I presume you will want top hold on to it. But if I don't ask, then won't know and would always wonder.

Regardless of how this works out, I do look forward to seeing you In Prague.
