If it's multi-region I'll defiantly be buying Operation Petticoat, a really great feel good film, & very funny. If not I'll wait, it's a Universal film & a lot of Universal films get released on Blu in Europe.
Well it was locked to A, but I wouldn't have bought it anyway, as looking at the caps & reviews it looks awful, such a shame. Good news about The Sands Of Iwo Jima (Wayne is really great in this), but it all depends on what Olive have found to use as a master, it could be that it won't be that much better than the DVD.

For the record, ROAD TO HONG KONG is a United Artists film, not an American-International film.
I DO wish Olive would release much more of the "true" Republic Pictures library after concentrating so much on Republic film noir and the John Wayne library. Although most is admittedly minor B-product, there are so many other interesting films in every creative category in this library---westerns, murder mysteries, adventures, musicals, comedies---and it is technically very well-made, scored, and shot, for its level.

Actually, Bob, I wonder if, after ROAD TO BALI in 1952, the "Road" series HAD eventually been picked up by AIP and in the later '50s and '60s, had been redeveloped for younger audiences, it might have extended its life.
I can see Frankie Avalon and Jody McCrea as two entertainer/surfers travelling the world, performing and searching for waves---and always running into Annette---in such exotic comedy adventures as THE ROAD TO HANALEI, THE ROAD TO FIGI, THE ROAD TO SAMOA..... And, of course, at some point in each film as a running gag they also always come upon two old guys, played by guest stars Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, who manage the local beach bar.

Independent distributors Olive Films have announce that they will add eight new titles to their Blu-ray catalog in August. Amongst them are American Ninja and American Ninja 2, The Pride and the Passion, and Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon.
American Ninja
The first film in the successful martial arts franchise, American Ninja stars Michael Dudikoff as Joe Armstrong, a one-man ninjitsu fighting machine. Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon
Hot off of her Best Actress Oscar nominated performance in The Sterile Cuckoo, Liza Minnelli embodies Junie Moon, the physically and emotionally scarred heroine in director Otto Preminger's (Such Good Friends) Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon. Considered misfits by society, hospital mates Junie Moon (Minnelli, Cabaret), a victim of an acid attack that has scarred her face; Arthur (Ken Howard, Such Good Friends), an epileptic; and Warren (Robert Moore, TV's Diana), a gay paraplegic; set up house together in a rented property owned by the eccentric heiress Miss Gregory (Kay Thompson, Funny Face).

The Pride and the Passion
Cary Grant (North by Northwest), Frank Sinatra (From Here to Eternity) and Sophia Loren (Two Women) set the screen ablaze with a burning passion in director Stanley Kramer's (Judgment at Nuremberg) epic The Pride and the Passion.
Set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, Cary Grant stars as Captain Anthony Trumbell, a British soldier tasked with securing a large cannon abandoned by the Spanish army when Napoleon's troops marched through and conquered Spain. The cannon, believed to be the largest in the world, would help England in their fight against the French. With the aid of peasant rebels lead by Miguel (Frank Sinatra) and Juana (Sophia Loren), Trumbell must first agree to help them restore the gun to defeat the French on Spanish soil.

Wild in the Streets
Striking a zeitgeist nerve, Wild in the Streets stars Christopher Jones (Ryan's Daughter) as Max Frost, rock singer and poster boy for the counterculture revolution of the 60's. I'm amazed, but pleased, to see that Olive is releasing TELL ME THAT YOU LOVE ME, JUNIE MOON. Leonard Maltin gives the “moving story” 3 and a half stars, noting that “moments of comedy, melodrama [and] compassion [are] expertly blended by Preminger in one of his best films.”
The 1970 film was originally copyrighted by Otto Preminger's production company, Sigma Productions. A year after Preminger's death in 1986, ownership transferred to the Preminger estate. In 1989, title to the film was shifted from the estate to a new company, Otto Preminger Films, Ltd., where it has apparently remained for the past 27 years. Since distributor Paramount has never controlled the film, I figured that was why no video release has been forthcoming from Paramount or its licensees over the years. But now, here it is. I wonder who Olive obtained the rights and the elements from.

The Monster of Piedras Blancas
The sleepy little lighthouse community of Piedras Blancas has a big problem when bodies begin piling up (thankfully there's the ice room at Kochek's Store for meats and groceries) and a scale from a thought-to-be-extinct prehistoric amphibian is found nearby. Could this be the work of...The Monster o fPiedras Blancas?
For a town photographed in black & white, Piedras Blancas is teeming with colorful characters. There's Sturges (John Harmon, Monsieur Verdoux), the lighthouse keeper who makes it a ritual to leave food out near a secluded beach cave for, well, something; Lucy (Jeanne Carmen, Born Reckless), Sturges' zaftig daughter, a free thinker who clearly doesn't pay attention to daddy's warnings about skinny dipping near the cave; Lucy's boyfriend Fred (Don Sullivan, The Giant Gila Monster), a young man more than willing to keep an eye on Lucy; and the dedicated man of science Dr. Sam Jorgensen (Les Tremayne, The Fortune Cookie) who's out to solve the mysterious murders. The Captive

Independent distributors Olive Films have announced that they will add five new titles to their Blu-ray catalog in February: Terence Young's The Klansman (1974), J. Lee Thompson's King Solomon's Mines (1985), Maurice Pialat's Police (1985), Bruce Beresford's Evelyn (2002), and Franklin Adreon's Panther Girl of the Kongo (1955).
The Klansman
A powder keg of racial tensions is ignited in a small Alabama town when a black man is accused of raping a white woman. The lurid tale is played out against the backdrop of the civil rights movement and features lead performances by Lee Marvin (Cat Ballou) as the town sheriff taxed with keeping the peace, and Richard Burton (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) as the liberal-minded landowner who finds himself caught in the middle of a heated war involving the town and the Ku Klux Klan. The Klansman, directed by Terence Young (Thunderball) from a screenplay written by Millard Kaufman and Samuel Fuller based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by William Bradford Huie, features supporting performances by Luciana Paluzzi (A Black Veil for Lisa), Linda Evans (TV's Dynasty), Lola Falana (The Liberation of L.B. Jones), Cameron Mitchell (Deadly Prey) and O.J. Simpson (The Towering Inferno).

King Solomon's Mines
Director J. Lee Thompson's (Cape Fear) action-packed adventure film (based on the H. Rider Haggard novel of the same name) stars Richard Chamberlain (Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold) as intrepid explorer Allan Quatermain and Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct) as his adventurous paramour, Jesse Huston. Hired by Jesse to find her father who she believes disappeared in an attempt to find the fabled mines of King Solomon, Quatermain will run afoul of the evil Colonel Bockner (Herbert Lom, Villa Rides), a German explorer also on a quest to locate the mythic treasures. And neither Bockner nor his partner in crime, the merciless Turkish slave-trader, Dogati (John Rhys-Davies, Raiders of the Lost Ark), like the competition.
Adapted for the screen by Gene Quintano (Sudden Death) and James R. Silke (Revenge of the Ninja), King Solomon's Mines features supporting performances by Ken Gampu (American Ninja 4: The Annihilation) and Sam Williams (King Solomon's Treasure), with a score by Academy Award-winning composer Jerry Goldsmith (Best Original Score, The Omen – 1977).

Panther Girl of the Kongo

Evelyn
Inspired by a custody case brought before the Irish courts in 1955, Evelyn stars Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye) as Desmond Doyle, a father fighting for the custody of his three children after abandonment by their mother. Due to the Irish law of the time, children could not be raised by one parent in what the courts considered "a broken home," thus allowing the Doyle children to be placed in church-run orphanages, where neglect and cruelty were not out of the ordinary. Desmond, with the help of the kindly chemist and love interest (Julianna Margulies, TV's The Good Wife), a local solicitor (Stephen Rea, The Crying Game), and two tough-as-nails lawyers (Alan Bates, Nijinsky; Aidan Quinn, Legends of the Fall), will take his fight to the highest courts to win their freedom. Rounding out the cast of talented actors is Sophie Vavasseur (Becoming Jane) as Evelyn, the little girl who won the hearts of a nation.
Evelyn is directed by Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) from a screenplay written by Paul Pender (The Bogie Man).

Police
Gerard Depardieu (1900) is cast as a tough French detective in Maurice Pialat's romantic drama Police. Depardieu, praised by Sight and Sound in what they called "one of his strongest performances," portrays Louis Mangin, a policier known for his hard-nosed interrogation tactics. His code of honor will be tested when he finds himself attracted to a drug dealer's girlfriend (Sophie Marceau, Beyond the Clouds) who is also a suspect in a drug smuggling syndicate.
Police, directed by Maurice Pialat (À nos amours) from a screenplay by Pialat, Catherine Breillat, Sylvie Danton and Jacques Fieschi, features supporting performances by Sandrine Bonnaire (À nos Amours), Richard Anconina (A Stone in the Mouth) and Pascale Rocard (Rabbit Fever).

After falling ill during a business trip, Jane Murray (Bernadette Peters, Impromptu) must confront her own mortality when she's diagnosed with a terminal illness.
