So who else here thinks the Mass Effect score by Jack Wall and Sam Hulick (mostly) was amazing? I'm still, to this day, lamenting the fact that a CD version of the Mass Effect 2 score wasn't released on CD. I did later download it from iTunes and transfer to CD, but even so...

To date, there have been four mp3 only score releases on the ME2 downloadable content, the best of which in my opinion has been "Arrival," with a score by Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan, who also did the most recent Warhammer 40,000 ST (also on my wish list). Regardless of whether or not you have played the "Arrival" add-on content, the score for it is a pure gem, and here's to hoping that not only is there a forthcoming CD release of the downloadable ME content, but also the upcoming ME3 in its entirety!

The most similar score I've heard to the original Mass Effect is Soderbergh's Contagion, which I luckily purchased promptly upon the CD-r arrival to Amazon. Anyone else like this score? I've heard Blade Runner also, but contrary to many of its fans, I didn't take as much of a liking to it. Any other scores similar to the original Mass Effect's or its series?

Howdy! You seem new here so allow me to be the first to say WELCOME!

I'm a big fan of Jack Wall's work for BioWare's Mass Effect video game series and I'm really looking forward to what Clint Mansell will be doing for the third game.

As for similar recommendations, look no further than something released very recently, Craig Armstrong's In Time. Which I commented sounding "like a Mass Effect film score."

I also really dug Martinez's score for Contagion, and would gladly say it's one of my favorites of 2011. Also check out his 2011 score for the film Drive, as well as earlier stuff like Narc and Solaris. Especially if you really like what Contagion has to offer.

It's a bummer you don't care for Blade Runner. It's a personal favorite, and a favorite amongst many around here. I suggest you come back to it throughout the months or the years. At first listen, I wasn't blown away but eventually I adopted it as an album I always fell asleep to and now I can honestly never get tired of it. It is true "desert island" music for me.

Thanks very much for the feedback and recommendations! I gave In Time a preview and my interest was piqued, but was really impressed upon giving Drive the same (and perused your thread on it as well). I'll be picking that one up for sure! I thoroughly enjoyed Solaris also and picked that up a few months ago from LaLa.

Let me make a recommendation to you: the WarHammer 40,000 Space Marine soundtrack, by Velasco/Dikiciyan of ME add-on content. Wonderful, and could also be a stand-in for any of their Mass Effect material.

And much agreed, by the way, on looking forward to Mansell doing ME3. I've adored his music ever since Pi, and The Fountain is one of my all-time absolute faves. Thanks again for the reply friend!

If you like game scores, one of the best and most eerie comes from Gary Schyman for the games, Bioshock and Bioshock 2. I also recommend, if you like space-themed horror, Jason Graves' scores to Deadspace and Deadspace 2.

I also agree that Jack Wall's music for the Mass Effect games were amazing (can't get enough of The Attack from ME2).

Last week on a whim I picked up Michael McCann's score for "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" (haven't played the game). Anyone who enjoys the music for Mass Effect will really dig this one also - both the more ambient tracks and heavy-hitting action ones wouldn't be at all out of place in the ME universe. The "Deus Ex" score kills the aforementioned Warhammer 40,000 one.

I can't wait to see the style that Mansell uses to close out the series. Having thought back on the schizophrenic scores for "Pi" and "Requiem for a Dream," here's to hoping he maintains the legacy sound of the first two games yet incorporates the marvel of his own works.

Mass Effect 3 is being released on 3/6, and the playable demo showed up on Playstation Network last night. Those of you on this board may not give two sh**s about the game, so I won't bother to discuss that.

I can say with certainty that even in listening through the short length of the demo, Clint Mansell will be heralding a more than worthy successor to the first two Mass Effect scores with casual aplomb. The collector's edition of the game, current available to preorder, apparently comes with a "digital version" of the soundtrack; my guess is that's going a link to a mp3 album.

Regardless, those whom are Mass Effect fans, stay tuned...I think we'll all be very impressed!

In Mass Effect, Earth is boring. I say let it burn.

But back on topic, did you hear Vigil on the main menu? Not the "Press Any Button" screen, the main menu where you select "New Game" ect.
