I am obsessed with The Impossible score!
Love so many of these cues. I think my favorite is "He Looked So Happy".
Such a moving cue!

Does anyone know if there is much from the movie missing on this album?

I see you guys praise his Orphanage score. Is it as good as this? Is it rich with melodies and themes like this one? smile

Nice to revive this thread. As a registered Velezquez fan-addict this will always be his Masterpiece for me. The score AND film basically transformed me into a total film score-music obsessive. Such beauty and sadness that truly touches the soul. Maestro Velazquez is truly like no other.
The Orphanage is a must own. You may also enjoy his CONCERT SUITES / MUSIC FOR FILMS CD from Quartet, both Zip y Zap scores are wonderful and fun, For the Good of Others, Ocho Apellidos Vascos, Gernika, and the wall to wall music of 'Deep'- so much music reminds me of Bruce Broughton's "Baby's Day Out"

You are lucky that you have so much to discover. IMO these are his best scores:

Lo Impossible, The Orphanage, Ocho Apellidos Vascos, Contratiempo, Gernika, Zip y Zap and The Marble Gang, Mama, The Last Days, For the Good of Others, El Guardian Invisible, Crimson Peak and Marrowbone.

Mcurry, glad you added more score information. I think The Impossible and Crimson Peak are gorgeous. Now I need to look at your other recommendations.

Brilliant film, brilliant score. It remains Velazquez' best score to date, IMO.

I would move MARROWBONE and CRIMSON PEAK higher up MC29's list above, if you're looking for more lovely stuff in the vein of IMPOSSIBLE and ORPHANAGE.
A MONSTER CALLS also has some heartbreakingly gorgeous moments too.
I don't have or love everything by this guy, but when he's on, he's feckin ON!!!!

Showreel can give you a few tips although it doesn't cover anything since Crimson Peak.

I agree completely. His second best is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

I doubt PPZ would even make my top 10... but I have just posted major update with finally some project pages for 8 (mostly recent) movies so far... more coming a bit later... but see filmography for details...

Thank you for the update my friend and also weighing in. I agree with you about PPZ as well. The future looks bright for the Maestro!

And filmography is pretty much finished with details regarding ALL officially released scores... I may add a few more samples here and there but those are only some minor updates left to do... smile

Listened to this album again today! Its so perfect!
Does anyone know of the released CD has the complete score? Or was there more in the movie?

I can't say for sure, but I don't remember that much being missing from the film on the CD.
Certainly nothing that stood out to me.
But Lokutus is your best bet on unreleased cues.

Ah cool! Maybe I should do a rewatch an pay attention to the cues to check big grin
I hope its the complete cause its so frustrating not having all the cues, specially when there's plenty more space on the CD!

And so I did big grin

Just rewatched it and compared it to the album.
I noticed (I think) 9 cues/moments in the film which is not on the CD.
However, they are all very short (some even just 10 seconds, longest I think around 30 seconds) and nothing special really. So I think we're good with the CD we got.

The Main Titles is actually not in the movie...at least not for the version I have (are there different versions?)

The End Titles is much longer though. Around 10 minutes or something. The "extra" parts in it which is not on the CD version is the cue "Go And Help People" + one that is not on the CD (and dont think its in the movie either....).
Might replace the CD version with the film version (or add as a "bonus" track) smile
