SHERLOCK is a delicious desert.*
FOYLE'S WAR is a meal.

check out the latest season of FOYLE . That show seems to get better every year!

*I love SHERLOCK even when the eps aren't that great and this season the eps weren't that great. But, the tranfsmorgification of Milverston from the Doyle story in to a Murdochian publisher for the tele was inspired!

Sherlock, the hit BBC One drama produced by Hartswood Films, will return to screens for a Special, followed by a series of three new episodes.
The last series saw Sherlock’s life change a lot - he returned from the dead, his best friend John Watson married Mary Morstan and he met his match in Charles Augustus Magnussen. After the briefest of exiles, Sherlock came back only to face one of his biggest mysteries yet. Why is Moriarty’s face being broadcast on every television in the land?

Speaking about the return of the series, co-creator, writer and executive producer Steven Moffat says: “A special, plus a new series of three episodes - it's a record-breaking run! Of course, it's far too early to say what's coming, but we're reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you'd expect...”

Co-creator, writer and executive producer Mark Gatiss, adds: “Series Four! At last ! It's always special to return to Sherlock but this time it's even more special as we're doing... a Special! Not only THAT, we'll then be shooting three more episodes which will take Sherlock and John Watson into deeper and darker water than ever before. The whole Sherlock team are terrifically excited to return for four new adventures. The Game is on - again!"

Sue Vertue, Executive Producer, Hartswood Films says: “It’s taken a little while to get the dates sorted as none of the boys are exactly sitting back twiddling their thumbs but there was unanimous goodwill to make this work, so we’re thrilled that 221b is going to be inhabited again.”

Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, says: “It’s a very good day in the life of a BBC One Controller when you can announce Sherlock will return for a special plus a new three-part series. Massive thanks to Sue Vertue and Hartswood Films for pulling this off, it's no mean feat pinning down some of this country's most brilliant and in-demand actors and writers."

Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama, says: "Steven and Mark are ready to unleash the most shocking and surprising series of Sherlock yet. The only thing to expect is the unexpected..."

Sherlock is written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock is produced by Sue Vertue and the executive producers are Beryl Vertue, Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat for Hartswood Films, Bethan Jones for BBC Cymru Wales and Rebecca Eaton for Masterpiece.

Shooting on the special will begin in January 2015, with the series shooting later next year.

Considering the fact that ,with the exception of STAR TREK, Cumberbatch hasn't exactly burned up the box-office, this is a wise decision

There was a second series, which was two 2 part stories. ITV have not renewed the series. Their loss.

I'm sure the Beeb's efforts to 'pin them down' were aided by massive pay cheques!

Nice work if you can get it - good luck to them. Personally, while I like the series very much, I don't really see the appeal of either Freeman or Cumberbatch. Just another couple of actors..... big grin

A happy announcement: everyone’s favorite crime drama Sherlock absolutely slayed it at the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards, taking home a total of seven statues for Series 3 installment His Last Vow. Yeah, that means Sherlock won more awards than critical darling Breaking Bad. For real.

Sadly neither Benedict Cumberbatch nor Martin Freeman – who collected trophies for Best Lead and Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie for their performances as Sherlock and John – were present at the ceremony, being busy with filming commitments and a stage play, respectively. Creator Steven Moffat was, however, and after he celebrated collecting a trophy for Outstanding Writing in a TV Movie, Miniseries or Special, he dropped a few hints about what we can expect to see in the highly anticipated fourth season.

Speaking to the press backstage following his win, Moffat seemed rather confident that the next season of Sherlock would be even more shocking and dramatic than Series 3, which featured a wedding, a mysterious resurrection, a main character getting shot and technically dying, and the revelation that another major character had been living a dangerous (and possibly deadly) double life. Whew.

But, apparently, that’s just the beginning for fans who’ve already been put through the emotional wringer, if Moffat is to be believed.

“We have a plan to top it. Actually, I do think our plan is devastating. We practically reduced our cast to tears by telling them the plan,” he told the press.

“Honestly, Mark [Gatiss] and myself are so excited with what we’ve got coming up, probably more excited than we’ve ever been about Sherlock,” Moffat explained. “Honestly, I think we can [top the last season].”

It’s not entirely clear whether Moffat means we’ll all be destroyed by the actual fourth series or by the one-off special that’s headed our way next year. But since the answer is probably both, does it really matter?

Further, Moffat once again indicated that Series 4 won’t be our last adventure with the boys from Baker Street, having already admitted that they have plans for Series 5. ““What’s happening with Sherlock is unusual. We will keep coming back to it,” he said.

BBC Home Entertainment is releasing a 14-disc Blu-ray/DVD Limited Edition Gift Set of Sherlock: The Complete Seasons 1-3. The popular series stars Emmy-winners Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, and arrives with all new bonus materials, collectible busts of Holmes and Watson, and two art cards on November 4th.

On the heels of an incredible night at the Emmy's, with the finale of Sherlock's third season, "His Last Vow," earning seven Primetime Emmy Award wins, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Benedict Cumberbatch, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Martin Freeman, and Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special for Steven Moffat.

Sherlock Holmes was always a modern man in an old world. Now he's back as he should be: edgy, difficult and dangerous, as Benedict Cumberbatch shows him in a new, contemporary light. Sherlock can tell a software designer by his tie and an airline pilot by his thumb. He has a uniquely analytical brain unlike anyone else in the world – a man who staves off boredom by solving crimes. When a chance encounter brings soldier John Watson (Freeman) into Sherlock's life, it's apparent the two men couldn't be more different, but Sherlock's intellect coupled with John's pragmatism soon forge an unbreakable alliance.

Across three thrilling, scary, action-packed and highly-entertaining seasons, Sherlock and John navigate a maze of cryptic clues and lethal killers to get at the truth. With sparkling scripts and unforgettable performances, this is a contemporary take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle stories for a new generation.

The 14-disc set includes every episode from all three seasons on both Blu-ray and DVD formats, along with the original bonus features released with each season. Additionally, the set features all new commentaries, never-before-seen outtakes, a deleted scene, and exclusive collectibles including limited edition art cards and busts of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

All new bonus content includes:
Never-before-seen Outtakes from Seasons Two and Three
All New Season Three Audio Commentary
Exclusive Deleted Scene from Season Three
BBC Archive Interviews with Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue from the time of the initial Season One premiere
Unlocking Sherlock: A 60-minute behind-the-scenes program for Season Three

One of the most frequently mentioned items on any Sherlock fan’s wishlist – besides the obvious answers like more episodes or the possibility of Cumberbatch clones – is the chance to see more bonus material and behind-the-scenes clips from the series’ filming.

Well, Sherlock fandom, occasionally wishes do come true – the first official blooper clip from the show has made its way online – with the promise of more to come!

Honestly, I have no idea what’s going on in this scene, or what’s supposed to be going on in this scene and I am here to tell you it absolutely 100% does not matter because, in truth, aren’t we all here to watch Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman crack jokes at each other and swear?

It’s worth noting that this is actually the first blooper from Sherlock filming that’s ever been released, so thank goodness production seems to have started listening to the fans who are so hungry for this sort of material. (Totally guilty, here, just FYI. I’ve watched that clip like six times. I’m not even ashamed.)

The clip was released to promote the upcoming sale of limited edition DVD and Blu Ray gift boxsets, which include all three seasons and a bunch of new bonus material, including more bloopers and outtakes, a deleted scene and (finally) commentary tracks for Series 3 episodes. Oh, and the super fancy special pack also features some interesting looking busts of the Baker Street boys that…may be bookeneds? I’m not sure exactly how one is meant to display them, but well, they exist if you’re into that sort of thing.

I now refer to series three as the "Troubled Series Three." There's just a lot I don't like about it, especially when Watson viciously head butts Sherlock in the face. That was so out of character, not to mention just plain ugly.

So you never read the first draft of "The Sign of Four", then...

"How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the OW SHIT that hurt!"
