I still think it was a no, shit sherlock.

I can take and not be upset about someone's not liking this. Afer all, the FSM Star Wars community have always been top notch in their tolerance and understanding whenever I've railed against that fanchises's lesser virtues. smile

All will be forgiven if you'll just watch that classical guitar video of the Sherlock music. wink

Picked up the dvd for The Abominable Bride today in what has been a dreary, soaky-wet day that would make London jealous. wink

Looking forward to the bonus material, to say nothing of watchng the excellent special itself once again.

Still don't have series three yet, though!

I finally watched The Abominable Bride and I enjoyed it a LOT. Tremendous fun and a step in the right direction after the "troubled" series three which I will nevertheless give another try now that the hype of that particular epoch in BBC Sherlock history has died down.

Remind me never to read anything from media outlets or internet messageboards about stuff I enjoy. wink

How anyone could even be remotely outraged or offended by anything in TAB must be either an oversensitive, built-to-be-offended Millennial or a reactionary lout. The notion that there was "mansplaining" or rampant political correctness is absurd.

One of the many things I've learned on the olde internet is that movies or tv shows that receive the most backlash are ones which use narration, black and white photography, flashbacks and/or non-linear timelines, have downbeat endings, or movies and shows made by people that the mass media "tells" us to hate, and of course movies and shows where they "talk a lot." All of these tend to receive the most negative and irrational criticism from the general and dopey general public.

It really makes me despise the "social aspects" of the internet all the more (except for the FSM Board). smile

A more specific review of TAB to follow...

Glad you enjoyed it,Jim. I thought it was brilliantly conceived....and, we’ve all had weird dreams like that, haven’t we?

I didn’t get the misogyny/feminist furore either ???

Amanda Abbington was on TV this morning (talking about her other show “Mr Selfridge”) and she touched on “Sherlock” and said that she didn’t see what all the fuss was about either. If you read her Twitter page, you’ll see that she’s not one to be messed around with, nor suffer “insults" of that kind without speaking her mind. So, can we drop that one now, please?

Regarding your following post about the drugs....i’ve only watched “Bride” once, but, didn’t Watson & Holmes speak about " the 7% Solution" ??

I was referring to the heretofore otherwise watered-down portrayal of Sherlock's drug use. It's refreshing that Holmes is hitting the hard stuff now. wink

Benedict Cumberbatch gets Emmy nomination for his dull, disinterested performance in the one-off Sherlock: The Abominable Bride.

http://www.bustle.com/articles/172601-benedict-cumberbatchs-2016-emmys-nomination-for-sherlock-the-abominable-bride-is-a-pleasant-surprise

Martin Freeman, who gave a MUCH better performance in the same special, is snubbed.

This is one of those Bruce marshall "Look, face it, it sucks" moments!!
Ha ha. No not sucked, lets be fair, but distinctly dropped way below its established high standard.
Lets hope the next one off - in fkn january 2017 - with in- demand film stars - will be better.

Mysteries: Another genre of films/tv series FSMers don't like. smile

I agree about Sherlock series three being piss poor. I liked the special, despite its faults, and hope series four holds back the self congratulatory and we read our press clippings vibe that plagued series three.

Sherlock is ok, but overrated. And Steven Moffat should concentrate his efforts in giving us full seasons of Doctor Who. Hope his replacement can manage this.

The first two series were outstanding, though the decay was already setting in with the series two finale. I'm happy that the show has once again made Sherlock Holmes a relevant name, unlike some other once-popular fictional characters that have failed in numerous reboot attempts over the years.

Hopefully Sherlock series four won't get bogged down with wives and babies, because anything that isn't Sherlock and Watson solving cases and their rapport is a waste of time.

Watson wears the papoose or whatever it's called in photos from this article:

Martin Freeman's hair is nearly as grey as my own hair! (to be fair, I am two weeks older than he is).

I fear that S4 will be more angsty crap and even less case solving. At least I still have the first two series to watch...

...and there's always Wallander...
