Well, I've done all my Xmas shopping this morning and it was easy. No hassles parking, no queues.
I do it the same way every year; put on a pot of coffee, boot the PC and something decent on sound system (today it was the seasonally inapproriate Omen 2!) and then I'm away. Clothes from the Hugo Boss site, most everything else from Amazon, except for a couple of specialist music things for my son and tickets for Strict Come Dancing Live for the lady in my life.
Job done, and took only two cups of coffee. Now I sit back and wait for them to be delivered in the next 48 hours, so plenty of time to return anything that is the wrong size etc.
Now I have the rest of Sunday to relax.
Much much better than trawling round the shops.
So which do you guys prefer to do your Xmas shopping, my way or the traditional way?
I thought Santa Claus took care of all that stuff.
I've shopped online exclusively since 2004 but have only recently gone with the Amazon Prime option. No crowded malls, no rotten strangers to jostle me, and no feeling of helpless disappointment when the brick and mortars don't have what I'm looking to buy.
I do buy some of the smaller things online but still go to the local brick-and-mortar Target shopping center which is within walking distance of my home. They have a grocery section so I can kill two birds with one stone while I'm there.
Sorry, my friend, not your way, i do Christmas shopping as much for the spirit and meaning of the holiday, there was something nice about shopping in New York a day or 2 before Christmas in some of those big stores. Even once in a while on Christmas Eve, something special comes with the buying that does not any other time of the year.So too can the wrapping and all have a warm feeling to it. I also like to buy with thought, not one two three get something you think they might like etc. I like style in my shopping and for Christmas nothing is nicer then coming out of say Macy's in New York on a snowy evening before Christmas with a bunch of gifts in one's hand.Those are memories of a lifetime creating special moments in life, making it worth to have lived through all the hardships life can give.
A bit of both really. I will buy some stuff online mostly for the 'saving of the pennies' and ease (although never clothes cos it's a real pain when they don't fit). But I do still like to hit the shops for old-times sake, plus it's always good to say 'sod this, let's go for a pint/something to eat'
This year i did most of my shopping on one weekend which is not the usual case with me. I wish someone had a camera taking pictures of me trying to handle 8 bags of stuff at once leaving the mall.I miss the New York Macy's days.
I still like getting out and shopping in stores. Last night I went to pick my brother up from work, and while waiting for him to get off I decided to go into the mall. Call me crazy, but I actually like shopping among the holiday crowd. Most of my shopping is done already, but I ended up getting a few last minute things for some people.
I tend to shop online only as a last resort, when I can't find something in a store or if it's something that's only available online.
I much prefer shopping online but occasionally I will go to some unconventional places to buy gifts for people for Christmas. I much prefer going to a Farmer's Market or other place where small shops are there to buy things from rather than going to the huge stores where there are tons of people. Parking becomes such a pain around Christmas that you will end up circling around for over 30 minutes just to find a spot in most places. I don't want to deal with that for sure.
I find it easier to buy online. I only have about two people to buy for. One of those is my brother in the UK, so I can usually wait until the last week.
