I've gotta say, the Armageddon score ( Rabin/Gregson Williams and a cast of thousands ) is one hell of a guilty pleasure for me. The movie, while completely idiotic, is still a fun popcorn muncher and the commercial CD is woefully short, leaving out the majority of the best tracks.
I'd like to be able to use 2 particular CDRs as coasters...seems this would be a perfect choice for LaLaLand to tackle. With more and more scores of this type and more 80's/90's scores being expanded...this one oughtta be someone's priority !
all of the released score from Sony (including one track from the song album - that dialogue track from the song album "Animal Cracker" sounded like a re-recording of the score) there are 3 tracks in total and 1 cue "Long Distance Goodbye" of the 54+ minuttes that does not appear in the film.
Could it be a rights issue? After all IIRC the original release only featured by Rabin, non of the music composed by others (Gregson-Williams?) appeared.
Mind you, wasn't it Touchstone which is/was Disney so the most likely source would be Intrada?
I tell ya...with my g/f's in the past we've done lots of things to lots of different movie music...but that's a new one.
aHHH THOSE were the days were we were young and everything was so exciting,
Girls, Filmmusic, Dvd's - al things that may not have a big as impact now as it did then where it was all new (or atleast new for newcomer in the universe)
Just stick your head in a bucket and bang on it for 2 1/2 hours...it's the same listening experience.
While bombastic, this is one of the best scores from the MV/RC scores of the 90s.
LAUNCH, ASTEROID RACE/THE SHUTTLE CRASH, GOODBYE INDEPENDENCE, HARRY AND GRACE MAKE PEACE, BAD NEWS, A.J. RETURNS, and SACRIFICE / GOODBYE GRACIE are all wonderful cues and it is a day one buy 3 purchase for me.
Funny thing about this score is that I honestly believe it is the reason people cry during the finale.

The idea of people crying while watching Armageddon is hilarious to me.
Believe me, I didn't think it until I read the comments on that youtube clip and on the IMDB page and so yea, its a sad finale.
I don't find it any less funny then when people cry at the end of GLADIATOR or BRAVEHEART.
I think it is a bloated film but I like it and it was back in the day when Michael Bay could direct action with all of the chaos being in the frame along with some fast pace editing and great score.
Now its all noise and fury, nano second cuts, shaking camera, and poor angles that unless the film goes into slow motion, I can't tell what the fuck is going on.
Mind you, I made more sense of THE BOURNE SUPREMACY / ULTIMATUM then I did of TRANSFORMERS 2 and 3.
I would love to have the ARMAGGEDDON SUITE as the album opener - then the complete score - then bonus and alternates and then maybe close with ARMAGGEDDON THEME (from song album).

Your just perfectly described Armageddon! But I agree the score is awesome and would love a complete release!
