Not the composer I figured when I learned about the production of the movie...
IMHO Frédéric Talgorn did a remarkable job for THE OLYMPIC GAMES, one of the best scores in recent years.
A wonderful score for a disastrous "movie". Same thing happened with Rrrrrrrrrr !.
Philippe Chany did a good job too with MISSION CLEOPATRA
A huge disappointment.
Let's wait and see : Badelt could turn, at least, into a very good impersonator ! And according to the plot it seems this sequel is more likely a "spy action" movie.
As much as I like the previous Asterix scores, I have to say I'm really excited for this news. He did a splendid job on Le Petit Nicolas. It seems that when Klaus isn't scoring big blockbusters like Poseidon, he delivers original, beautiful and melodic scores. We shall see.

I for one enjoyed the soundtrack for the first movie (by Jean-Jaques Goldman & Roland Romanelli) the most and so far it's the only Asterix-score I have on CD; and I always love coming back to it. I thought Mission Cleopatra was quite nice, too but Talgorns score for the Olympic Games didn't do much too me I'm afraid. But maybe that's because of the movie which I thought was really horrible and for me the worst Asterix-movie they ever made. Haven't read anything about the new one, but I hope it's a few steps better than the last. I don't really know what to think of Badelt of a composer, though. I find it rather dissapointing that they choose a different composer for every movie anyway, especially after I enjoyed the first so much.
