Isn't it just one of the coolest, big-ballsed, mighty-sounding, deliciously-orchestrated, sumptuous, romantic-yet-adventurous, in-your-face yet beautifully-subtle-when-needed, scores of all time??

That soaring theme never fails to make me smile, the humuorus touches make me genuinely laugh, even if I am just listening to it on CD - Holdridge managed to paint not just pictures, but a whole world with this score....

Just thought I'd mention it is all....in the hope of seeing a half-decent R2 DVD or BR release, and in the hope that somehow, somewhere, Intrada or LLL have this on a "To Do List"...the current CD is great (if hard to find and damned expensive), but could sure use a spruce-up.

Oh - and the Gerhardt recording of the suite? Wow......just....Wow....as far as I know, the only recording of that suite, but what a recording....

A classic great driving theme sets your emotions on high gear.

Yes indeed. This was one of the first soundtracks I sought out once I started collecting. It's definitely a crowd pleaser

I'm hoping that since Intrada has a relationship with Holdridge that we might see this score and his music from Wizards and Warriors one day. Holdridge is a gifted composer and I think that he had an affinity for the fantasy genre.

Very true. Recently I had gotten National Geographic EXPLORERS that was scored by Lee Holdridge. Terrific score that uses Wizards and Warriors as it's main theme.

An expanded Intrada release of BEASTMASTER would be wonderful. I have always loved the score. And, as others have said, it really does have it all. "The Horde" is amazing.

There's a moment in the score when some sort of zombie thing comes after Marc Singer that features (if I recall correctly) repeating string figure and a theremin. This is among the many cues not featured on the record I'd love to hear on its own.

The suite from The Beastmaster that was featured on the Charles Gerhardt recording (which also features a suite from Wizards and Warriors) is also very good. That entire album is excellent, actually, as is the one Citadel put out of his concert work.

Question - I am listening to my old THE BEASTMASTER CD and can someone tell me I am not hearing the End Title from the original Battlestar Galactica series "Let's Go Home" when the main theme from The Beastmaster is playing?

Nope, you're not hearing Battlestar Galactica. Maybe you're starting to go insane?
