Out digitally on 10/25 / CD available 11/29 DRIVE... and this... and IN TIME... All three recent Lakeshore releases, with CD releases a month after the download, which is timed to the theatrical release. I swear they must just be trying to kill physical CD sales because there's a higher profit margin on downloads. I mean I guess I should at least be grateful there's a CD at all, but this is really testing the meaning of "at least". I find it hard to believe all three releases could have had artwork issues that held up the making of the physical CDs. It reminds me of when SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE came out for download only, then a CD came out about two months later. In that case, having already bought the download, I waited until I could find the CD used at Amoeba, so at least the record label wouldn't get my money twice. And then there was CONTAGION, where Amazon had the score only available for download the week before the film came out, then suddenly a CD materialized the following week. I was so pissed in that case that I called Amazon's 800 number and got them to give me a store credit for the amount I spent on the download towards the purchase of the CD. The only plus here is that we know the CD will be coming out, but having to wait a month, by which point I'll have half-forgotten the score and film, is silly. I'd have bought the DRIVE CD if it had come out when the film did, I don't think I will now.
