I was hoping to announce 2 titles this morning, but there was delay at the Sony plant and one particular Golden Age 2 disc set will not be ready until our Oct 25 batch, so only one title is being announced today.

TRADING PLACES
MUSIC BY ELMER BERNSTEIN
LLLCD 1194
Limited Edition of 2000 units

Executive Producer/Art Director - Dan Goldwasser
Mastered by Mike Matessino
Liner Notes by Jeff Bond

La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures are happy to announce the world premeire of Elmer Bernstein's score to the classic comedy TRADING PLACES starring Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy. Mr Bernstein deftly weaves his original comedic tunes with classical peices by some up and comer named "Mozart" and delivers a fantastic comedy score in the tradition of his immortal works to AIRPLANE, ANIMAL HOUSE and STRIPES. Jeff Bond's notes take the listener through the history of the film, its score and features insightful comments by the film's director John Landis. The cd is packed with the film's original score, source cues recorded by Mr. Bernstein and alternate Bonus Cues.

This title goes on sale next Tuesday Oct 11, 2011 at 1 pm PST and is limited to 2000 units.

MAJOR COOLNESS ALERT!:

Mr. John Landis will be signing copies of this score exclusively at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, CA tomorrow evening (Oct 5) starting at 7 pm pst. If you can't make it down, you may pre order copies at www.darkdel.com

See y'all next week!

Nice! I love me some Bernstein. Between this, Summer and Smoke, and Rampage, it's quite a time for his releases. smile

Hello, MV:

By your referring to Sony, and knowing that Sony holds Columbia Pictures elements, would it be too much to ask if this upcoming 2-disc Golden Age release contains sound recordings from Columbia Pictures? George Duning's film noir scores or westerns, perhaps?

Just because a CD is pressed at a Sony pressing plant, doesn't necessarily mean the original rights holders of the material was Sony

With all these recent Elmer Bernstein releases, is it finally time to start the Order of Bernstein, as a counterpoint to the Cult of Jerry? big grin/

Certainly not George Duning on a double CD.
I would rather think of a Sony - Fox cooperation in the vein of A CERTAIN SMILE. I suppose it could be for example Friedhofer's AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER. Complete original score from Fox on disc one, album version from Sony (old Columbia LP) on disc two or vice versa.

Agreed.
I thought as much, but I have hopes for more vintage Columbia titles nevertheless.

If the rights holder is not Sony, then is this double-CD Golden Ager from ... Fox? ... Paramount? ... or whom?

Aha.

How about the original sound recordings of Dimitri Tiomkin's WILD IS THE WIND from Paramount, plus a re-issue of the Columbia LP program, courtesy Sony? smile

Could be, but it depends on whether Paramount still has original elements for WILD IS THE WIND at all or not. I think that with AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER there could be more differences between album and original score which would therefore also make a double CD more worthwhile.
