Mr Fitzpatrick is there any possibility of a re-recording of the complete score to A Passage to India this would truley be a crown jewell in the already impressive list of releases from Tadloow.

Why?
The tapes for the complete score should still exist (besides there is not missing much on the previous releases) and there are no issues with the performance that would need to be corrected.

Exactly. Its a score by Jarre that I love, but the existing releases of the OST are pretty excellent to my ears.
'Ryan's Daughter', on the other hand, I would most welcome a new recording.

Last year I did remix and remaster A PASSAGE TO INDIA from the original multi track tapes that I "saved" for Maurice. The sound is a whole lot better...but as to extra music there is only about 6 more minutes of score...although I did find 30 minutes of source music by Maurice.

Hopefully one day EMI might get off there collective backsides and sign the licence agreement!!!!

I love the way when Jarre handles his source cues within the score. Id love to hear a good sound mastering with some solid bass built into it. I have the old first pressing but it all sounds flat IMHO.

You'd just love the Indian Band Source Music where Maurice told the RPO to play as badly as they could ....and they did!!! So much so that the next day the whole lot was recorded again (I was at those sessions as researcher for Maurice) with the orchestra asked "not to play quite that badly!" by Maurice

Ahh the source cues and all the stories to tell from the recording sessions, Mr Fitzpatrick this looks like a great oppertunity for a release, fingers crossed for a possible future release from Tadlow.

Hmm...just 6 extra minutes and source music, then James. Not sure that would be a huge selling point. I actually find the sound on the below 2006 EMI/DRG release pretty fine. But if it sounds 'a whole lot better', then maybe. Wonderful music by Maurice.

James, the Punjabi march band is indeed hilarious and apt for its typical performance. As for the unreleased source music (on the new expanded release from Quartet Records) it appears that we only get around 13 minutes of it as compared to the 30 minutes you mentioned. Perhaps the remaining 15 are the 'badly as they could' versions of the first takes. I would be pleasantly surprised it these could have been put in in as a hidden track.

Its also pleasant to learn that 'Farangipani' is the alternate Main Title- since I wondered where it had to fit in the unused cues.

Oh I cant wait to get this re-master!

I love this score!
It's so upbeat and just sonically soars!

Can't wait to get this one!

If you haven't picked up the Quartet records remaster by James Fitzpatrick, I'd strongly suggest doing so. You can now hear the Ondes Martenot during the final statement of Adela's theme in the Main Title. Nice. When you hear that cymbal crash at the end of the main title, it'll really stand the hairs on the back of your neck up.

I think this one was a digital recording, and the album always sounded a little muddy in its previous releases. The remaster really opens it up. Great job, Fitz. Kudos to you and Dick Lewzey for preserving this great capstone to the Lean/Jarre collaboration.

I enjoyed this edition of the Quartet Records but one thing I noticed in this issue is a little problem on the track "The Temple" compared to the old edition of the Capitol Records, there for 2 minutes and little, the music is very low and has a passage where the harp or piano (I think) make a question and the answer to the cello, in this new edition you almost can not hear the cello response, I think is 3 repetitions, someone noticed that? It could be a mixing problem?
