British distributors Eureka Entertainment have officially announced and detailed their upcoming Blu-ray release of F. W. Murnau's legendary silent cinema horror classic Nosferatu (1922), expertly restored in Germany by the world-renowned Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung (FWMS). The release will be available for purchase on November 18th.
In addition to the standard Blu-ray release, Eureka Entertainment will also have available for purchase a Limited SteelBook Edition.
An iconic film of the German expressionist cinema, and one of the most famous of all silent movies, F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror continues to haunt — and, indeed, terrify — modern audiences with the unshakable power of its images. Amongst them are Federico Fellini's Roma (1972), Francesco Rosi's Hands Over the City (1963), Sidney Lumet's Serpico (1973), Robert Altman's Nashville (1975), and Samuel Fuller's White Dog (1982).

Rozsa's score was originally released on lp, then later on a Japanese lp, then later on a Japanese CD, then, I think, Disques Cinemusique, available ton SAE, released it.
Beautiful score, gorgeous love theme, and stirring action cues, as only Rozsa can write them!
The film is also quite moving, with Gavin, and especially Lilo Pulver, delivering creditable performances. The novel's author, also author of the original ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, Erich Maria Remarque, also appears, as Gavin's former school professor.
And don't forget to look for Klaus Kinski in a chilling little role in a Gestapo office....

Do you guys realize that they're releasing A TIME TO LOVE AND A TIME TO DIE, with an "isolated music and effects track" by one of our favorite composers, the incomparable Miklos Rozsa? ..
The isolated music and effects track was also on Eureka's 2009 DVD release (and frankly I didn't find the Blu-ray a hugely worthwhile improvement over the DVD).
The isolated track isn't at all a satisfactory way to listen to Rozsa's music because the sound effects are frequent and extremely loud, added to which there's not much (if any) music in the film which isn't already on the OST album.
What's really wanted is for Universal to release the film on Blu-ray with the original stereo soundtrack (the Eureka is mono).

Well, Heston did mention Spartacus in his narrated list of borrowings, so a few bars from the same won't make that much of a difference. Kind of wraps up the trailer with a borrowed sense of epic.

I don't see much difference in picture quality between Eureka's THE LOST WEKEND and DOUBLE INDEMNITY but I think they are both disappointing and make me wonder what was the point in my upgrading them from the DVD versions. Of course, as you say, it all depends on what original elements are available. Sony's HD restoration of ON THE WATERFRONT, for example, looks vastly better than the DVD.

British distributors Eureka Entertainment have announced that they will add a number of titles to their Blu-ray catalog between September and December. Amongst them are Sijun Suzuki's Youth of the Beast, D.W. Griffith's Intolerance, Raymond Bernard's Les Misérables, and Fritz Lang's Spione.
On 20 October 2014, joining existing Fellini films Roma, Il Bidone and City of Women on the label, Eureka will be releasing a new digitally restored version of The Clowns on Blu-ray in a Dual Format (Blu-ray and DVD) edition. The film reflects Fellini's childhood obsession with clowns, exploring deeper human conditions that resonate through various clowns who vary from a local sex-crazed hobo, a midget nun, to a mutilated Mussolini disciple.
A week later on 27 October 2014, Youth of the Beast shall be unleashed in a Dual Format (Blu-ray and DVD) edition. Jo Shisido's raw performance and Seijun Suzuki's stylish cinematic artistry complement one another perfectly. Out of the mass-produced array of Japanese action films, this movie stands out like a radiant gem. Last, but not least, from Ancient Babylon and Biblical Judea to Medieval Paris and Modern America, four stories of intolerance and inhumanity interweave to form an amazing spectacle that gains momentum as it moves towards a powerful and memorable climax.
