Anyone else excited about this show? I never watch live TV anymore because I hate commercials and scheduled airings but this looks so good I might tune in Sunday night and check this Spielberg-produced two hour pilot out. Love to see Noah Wyle in a starring role besides those goofy Librarian movies...

I'm looking forward to it. The trailer and clips I've seen look pretty good, and I've always liked Noah Wyle. Who I hope aets back to making another Librarian soon.

That's still the only way I watch TV. If I see a show that looks interesting, I'll watch it. (Usually if I record something to watch later, I just never get around to it, so I prefer sitting down at its scheduled time to catch it.) I couldn't stand waiting an entire season to then see something on DVD. I miss out on discussing it online with other fans, plus I'm not gonna buy an expensive 6 or 7-disc DVD set and risk getting something I may end up not liking. So yeah, I'm still a regular TV watcher. big grin

I have seen a couple of different ads for this. They look spectacular. Sunday evening will never get here. Sarah Carter of Final Destination 2 and Moon Bloodgood of Terminator Salvation also are in the cast. Greg Beeman, a producer on Heroes and Smallville is also involved. Very excited.

Yes, I am!

I am HUNGRY for another new sci fi show now, since almost everyone else are either on hiatus or are cancelled (PRIMEVAL is only one currently running, I believe).

As much as I LOVE scifi, UFOs, & aliens...I am skipping this one which looks like yet another re-tread of SKYLINE, ID4, BATTLE LOS ANGELES, etc. I am weary of negative scenarios (hostile alien attacks, apocalyptic dark worlds) and long for the days of E.T., COCOON, CE3K, and other friendly visitors. (PAUL was great). Pass.

With Spielberg attached I was expecting a big(ish) cheese to score this.
Step forward....Noah Sarota.
But then I'd never heard of David Bergeaud before Earth 2 and his music was great!

And I'd never heard of Laura Karpman until I heard her music for TAKEN, which was very good.

Though I can't say I've heard of anything she's done since....

Aye John, that's another goodun. I'd forgotten that one.
Like Bergeaud, she dropped back into relative obscurity, despite writing such great music.
Maybe this guy can make it 3rd time lucky in the breakout stakes?

Any thoughts on the Season two premier? I only saw the Season one premier and part of the season one final last year. Thought it was terrible.

Tuned in because a fav actress of mine from BSG got a small role this season. (Kat)
I was rather surprised. The production values and script were a lot better. Far from something I would otherwise watch on a regular basis, but I was surprised by how much it improved- warts and all.

It wasn't very good, no, but you get what you get with that show. It's ripe with cheap plot points, 7TH HEAVEN-ish dialogue and so on, but at least it's better that way than TERRA NOVA.

I'm so starved for sci fi shows these days, that I can easily stick with this. The production values are excellent, and there's some nice action here and there. Then it's not that important that the characters are a bit shallow.

Even with its problems, I'm enjoying the show. I'm glad that I heard the army will be doing more 'resisting' than just running this season, and there are a lot of characters that have plenty of opportunity for development. Hopefully it doesn't go all Terra Nova, though.

The last episode was entertaining and quite moving. And not in the typical Spielberg sappy way.

Someone gave me a bit of trivia about this episode.

For you BSG fans, not only did we have an appearance of Luciana Carro, (Kat in BSG) as Crazy Lee, but Camille Sullivan (Stepchild in BSG) as the female pilot Avery Churchill.

Both Lucci and Camile were in the BSG episode "Hand Of God". Both Viper pilots. Camille's Viper was shot down in that episode.

So two female Viper pilots in this episode of Falling Skies.

I found the first 3 episodes of the season so far were a LOT better than last year.

Possible, albiet minor, spoilers ahead. Nothing big, but I'll black it out anyway.

The 2nd Mass is on the move which is a lot more realistic than camping out in a high school all year, and the casualties in the three months Noah Wylie's character was away were enormous. There's now a feeling of movement and a tangible goal, plus the hint of a regular adversary. I'm liking it a lot so far.

Will Patton is still the highlight of the cast. If I have to bitch about anything, it's some of the dialog. Especially Pope's. He's a great character, but sometimes what he says makes me scratch my head; "dollars to doughnuts"? "Beaucoup skitters"?

The last episode was entertaining and quite moving.

I actually felt just the opposite - the acting and plotting was fairly strong in the 2-pt season opener, but this whole episode felt fairly ham-handed to me. I also thought that the pilot served no purpose other than flying exposition machine and I didn't feel like the acting helped either - very matter-of-fact here's-the-season's-goal okay-see-you-later.

Last year I couldn't stay far enough away from this series. Now I am actually looking forward to future episodes. My nit-pick? The biker gang are always dirty and grungy while the rest of the people seem to wash their faces between battles. Guess your more the bad ass if you don't use soap. roll eyes

@ mstrox - I agree regarding the pilot sub-plot. I expected something a little more significant to come from that. There was never really a pay off.

There's actually a pretty amusing exchange in one of the episodes about some of the gang and how they smell.

Me too, I thought she would have some kind of connection to someone or at least have a much larger role in the episode. Ah well.

There's certainly an improvement in the scripts though this season has been up and down as far as quality. I enjoy the music. Surprised there's been no demand or mention of a score release. The Nu BSG influences are getting to be a bit to much. I was ok with "a" alien controlling mole. But now we find out there are many moles. Sleeper Cylons anyone? And yet another human/alien hybrid baby. (I was hoping she was just hallucinating.)

Gotta admit that even though I was excited about this show before it premiered I've not seen it yet! Sidetracked by too many other shows. Considering finally getting into it, now too knowing that it's had years to develop its story.

Thoughts on the show? Avoiding spoilers, why or why do you not like it?
