I only have the original 1990 Varese and wondered if anyone had the right order. Also, does anyone have a "complete and chronological" track listing if one were to compile from the 1990 AND 1998 (20th Anniversary) Discs.

Thanks for any help.

I have both albums waiting for an answer on my hardrive Tom! They've been there for a couple months.

Maybe this is a question for The Mutant...

It's kind of complicated. Multiple tracks on the original CD need to be divided up. For example; track 4, "The Haunted House" consists of 5 different cues from different parts of the movie. Plus, many cues repeat themselves in the film. I've edited the original CD, separating all the different cues, and made my own playlist that best represents the film order without repeating any cues. Problem is, I renamed many of the track titles and can't remember off the top of my head what CD track name they're associated to. I'll see what I can come up with and get back.

Wow, ok. Thanks for the info. Consider me walked away from this project myself, had no idea it was this complicated, it's not that important to me! It might help someone else, though.

Well then...

The pros should have a go at this!

While it was great to have the 20th anniversary Edition on VS back in '98, there was a lot of dialogue bleeding into the Music. We finally had the original pre-Howarth-lucased tracks, but well..

What about a 40th anniversary (cheese-us, was this almost 20 years ago since that CD came out???) Edition with the film tracks in chronological order and the beefed-up Album Versions of some tracks as a Bonus? (Sorry about wrong capitals here, my work Computer likes to correct me...)

DO YOU HEAR ME, Varèse? smile Please no dialogue this time...

Best,
Burnie

I prefer the original soundtrack music better than the newer soundtrack John Carpenter created for DVD. The added synthesized overlays on top of what was already there is annoying. Example, that thumping disco beat added to the opening credits music.

The complete original soundtrack to Halloween is afaik only available as an isolated mono
track on the old criterion laserdisc.

Anyone heard it?

Count me in for a definitive edition of Carpenter's Halloween soundtrack. I remember buying the 20th anniversary edition at my local Best Buy back nearly 13 years ago and being shocked (after my first listen) that they left in the sound fx and dialogue with certain cues. Guess I should've read the back of the album before purchasing it. It was pain trying to edit out the dialogue in certain tracks for my personal playlist.

I own it. And still have my Laserdisc Player.

I think it can be said now after almost 40 years that the score for Halloween is iconic and deserves preservation in its original form.

And thanks for the track list!

Smoke Signals work best. Or friend me on Facebook. Either works.

Incidentally this thread inspired me to hook said Laserdisc Player up.
Works.
