First things first: Erik: I listened to the entire program, and, with the exception of Eliot Goldenthal's ambitious "Fire Water Paper: A Vietnam Oratorio," loved it. (I just couldn't get into Goldenthal's scherzo for it.) Incidentally, a huge brass and trumpet fan myself, I went on a search for the "Songs from the Heart" CD by Philip Cobb, but couldn't find anything about him nor the music. Also looked for Christopher Gordon. Any suggestions -- I have a lot of trumpet music and really want to buy some by Cobb! To those who feel that the Goldsmith album, on which this thread was started, sounds horrible, I'm hoping that those are feelings about the music, which, understandably, isn't universally accessible, and NOT the Telarc's SACD (or CD), which sounds just fine on my powerful surround sound system with its 9 big speakers. Frankly, especially with the final "Fireworks," I had to force myself to turn down the volume!
