One of three new soundtracks just released by MMM. Pay particular note to the love theme "Full of Love"

I had a nice email exchange with Tommy Morgan, quite the famous harmonica player, and he told me he didn't do the harmonica track "Full of Love." His best guess is Bruce Fields who also did the harmonica solo for Ruby another Roemheld soundtrack.

I haven't been able to trackdown the vocalist. My best guess is Art Lund. Does anyone else have any ideas?

I thought this just-published review was an excellent take on a fifties monster movie that I feel is one of the best of the era. I know the film's screenwriter, Pat Fielder, and sent her a copy of the review, as the insightful writer understood what she brought to the project:

Just saw this movie for the first time and it is a Hoot!

Lots of fun and look forward to hearing the CD score production and reading what will no doubt be GREAT liner notes!

Looks like this might be a rare comprehensive Heinz Roemheld CD release.

The Monster That Challenged the World really is a nice little atomic-age horror flick. Engaging and generally well done, especially considering how badly the concept of a six foot-tall mollusk could turn out. I've been meaning to rewatch it since it's been awhile. I'll definitely pay closer attention to the score when I do.

A recommended addition to anybody's horror flick lineup this October. wink

Excellent review (of the film). There's really a lot more to these old "horror flicks" than meets the eye. The writers, directors, actors and composers always tried to give their best no matter what the project was. By not playing down to the material the films have a timeless quality which makes them "unsung classics" today. The only ones who seem to ridicule these films today are snobbish critics who have forgotten why they fell in love with "the movies" in the first place.

Very well-put, James. I just did a sci-fi convention in Burbank (Monsterpalooza), and so many of our customers are much younger than the audience who grew up on those movies. They don't just like the music, they love the movies, too. Many learned to appreciate that vintage of cinema from their parents, and even though they know the special effects aren't close to state of the art CGI, they recognize the superb writing, direction, composing, acting, and ingenuity that went into so many of those "classic" movies. So many of hose movies already have a life of 50 - 60 years, and it's way too early to guess how many films made in the 1980s and later will have the same appeal.

Thanks David for giving us this wonderful score by Heinz Roemheld, we have so little by him. He was a great composer and very neglected. I hope in the future another Roemheld CD will be issued.
