According to Ain't It Cool News, screenwriter Kevin Jarre - son of Maurice - has passed away.

There's a surprising lack of information out there. IMDB doesn't have any info yet, but someone posted this in the boards.

Apparently he died on April 3rd. The cause of death is unknown. He was roundabouts age 56.

R.I.P.

Oh no, sorry to hear that. I'm not terribly familiar with him other than that he was Maurice's son and Jean Michel's step-brother.

For his TOMBSTONE screenplay alone , he should be remembered. Rest in peace

RIP

He has a certain similarity with Jean-Michel in the pictures.

They only shared the father, but yeah...there's a similarity there.

According to AICN / Harry Knowles -

Kevin Jarre's death was attributed to Natural Causes. A contributing factor was the alcohol's cumulative effects upon his system, which allowed it to give out so early in life. Death by Hollywood.

Sad that such a talented man had such an terrible problem.

He actually had a cameo in GLORY, and had two lines one of which I won't repeat here but the second line was "Give'em hell 54th!", yelled as the regiment was approaching Fort Wagner in formation.

The first line he said earlier on when looking at Morgan Freeman's character had to do with his rank stripes...if you remember you'll know what I mean. It's a funny line but a nasty one.
