I love this movie ever since I first saw it in 1987, it's one of my top three favorite comedies of all time, ARTHUR 1 & 2 are the other two. For me those three are not only funny, but touching too. Good Bacharach soundtrack too for all three. Another fact, those three movies are all filmed in New York, I'd love to go sight seeing the movie locations those films were filmed at.
I remember this film well. Funny as hell and at times very touching. Not what I expected from a film, who's premise was running a prostitution ring from a morgue.
Break out roles for Shelley Long and Michael Keaton. Henry Winkler was brilliant as the shy, nervous, worrisome "night shift" caretaker.
So many hilarious moments. Especially with the dog in the hallway. Don't forget this line: "Don't say that word!" Who could forget: "Can you turn it down?!" Answer: "Yes you can turn it down, you can turn it up!"
Edit: If you like this film, check out "Gung Ho". Another Howard and Keaton collaboration and just as good.
I haven't seen this one, but judging by the comments left here I think I should. I love some early Michael Keaton comedy.
I always got this title confused with Swing Shift, another film I haven't seen. Isn't that one Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn?
On face value I expected a "Porky's" kinda film. A cheap sex comedy. Instead it's a film with endearing characters and a lot of heart. Winkler was brilliant playing against type. Keaton was brilliant for making a seamlessly shallow character likeable. And in my mind this is the film that put Shelley Long on the map.
