Yeah, it was good to see it on the big screen in NFT1, Kev. Those 70s/80s De Palma films are just masterful. I've missed a lot of his later work so will stream 'Passion' and Femme Fatale at the weekend.

Yes, that BLOW OUT Japanese LP was pretty decent as far as cover versions go. I really liked it too, but being more familiar with the film/score through countless viewings on video, I always longed for the real deal. The Prometheus CD was a godsend, when it finally arrived (Did we get a tease a few years before, with that DePalma/Donaggio compilation CD that included some tracks from it? Can't remember which came first). His output from his early/mid 70s scores (DON'T LOOK NOW, CARRIE) through to his 80s stuff is incredible. Not just DRESSED TO KILL and THE HOWLING as you mention, but mighty fine stuff like HOME MOVIES, TOURIST TRAP, ZELLY & ME, HERCULES, BODY DOUBLE. And I still hope for a release of TEX and KANSAS, two great Americana scores he wrote. The Man was ON FIRE!!!

My favorite Pino Donaggio scores? Let's see what I pick if I limit myself to five BODY DOUBLE No doubt, I love the movie and the music. ZELLY AND ME Never saw the movie, but the music is beautiful. Very harmonic and pleasant like a warm end-summer evening. DON'T LOOK KNOW The first film score by Donaggio, and also my first encounter with him. The childlike piano theme is one of Donaggio's most haunting creations. HERCULES Donaggio goes big orchestral and pompous... lot's of fun music for monsters that look like they came from a metal construction kit. DRESSED TO KILL / BLOW OUT Can't decide between these two... but it gives me a reason to re-listen to them soon.... Tonight, it's BLOW OUT...
