"Care and Protection" Series one, Episode one. Original Airdate: December 6, 1992

...
The premiere episode is a solid and promising start to the long-running series.

I appreciate the gritty look of a rain-soaked, rundown England with crap-looking, early '90s cars, unkempt, claustrophobic building interiors, dreary-looking people with dreary existences, and an overall air of dreary misery.

...

Hey, careful what you say about this green and pleasant land!

Yes, a great first episode with much better to come. I recall having to console my very young daughter re: the cats ...

Nothing against England--you know that, I'm sure. smile I was just describing the England, or rather the fictional "Denton" as it is so atmospherically depicted in A Touch of Frost (or "ATOF" as it shall now be known).

Thursday evenings are my ATOF nights, so beware of the upcoming episode two review. wink

Looks like I'm a bit behind in my reviews. wink

Watched the series finale of ATOF and was quite satisfied with the entire series. I do wish I had watched the show down the years instead of just discovering it six years after it ended, as it would have been all the more moving than it was to see the wrap up.

Sir David Jason is a TV treasure...I've enjoyed watching him in every series I've seen him in.

Someone up thread mentioned something to the effect that Frost was light, tea time fare. If anyone thinks that, then I'd be terrified to see what passes for gritty primetime viewing--maybe the BBC world report?

The best episode is probably the one featuring the man with Down's Syndrome accused of murdering a young girl--you know, typical tea time stuff. wink

Anyway, thumbs way the hell up for A TOUCH OF FROST.
