The idea of a complete score soundtrack to TRON Legacy has recently struck me as potentially problematic, to a degree. I assume that the music was composed first as stand-alone tracks, and then later fitted/editted to the scenes of the film. ? Maybe some combination of both? If so, if the current releases are collections of broader melodies uneditted, then one who chairs the assembly of a newer "complete chronological film order" score might be faced with 2 choices: release a complete ordered array of whole 'source' tracks or release a complete ordered array of the actual editted film score. Hmmm. I wonder if - again, if my assumption is correct - a solution might be to create an Uber-Super TRON Legacy soundtrack. Release a complete score set that includes *both* the whole melodies in order, and accompany them with the editted film score. I guess that would parallel the presentation on a host of LLL and Intrada releases of late. Whacked or not? Interesting stuff. As far as I am concerned I'd be delighted for as much of the DP score to Tron:Legacy to be released regardless of format - I'm absolutely in love with the single disc soundtrack CD and keep meaning to pick up the "Special Edition" before the prices go toooo crazy (already on the up as you'll no doubt know). But if there is more material for a potential expanded release some day, then bring it on I say! -John

If it is going to be some remix album, count me out. I hate those things usually. Off-Topic.. but *cool* Avatar there, Thorpe. "Limbo" rules! -John

What is special about this "special edition" soundtrack? I could not figure out what you were referring to on following the link you gave. Thanks! It has 5 more tracks than is on the regular release. But it's still far from complete. Which brings me to the main reason I revived this thread. With Intrada apparently releasing Disney material now, how many others would like to see them look at the possibility of a truly complete TRON: Legacy album? I've bought the regular CD, I've bought the deluxe edition later on eBay (for more than I'd like to admit, but such is life), I've bought the iTunes tracks, and I've bought the Amazon tracks. It kind of annoyed me having to buy so many different things to get as much of the music as I could (and still I lack everything, since there's the Sunrise Prelude Nokia Ovi exclusive track, and a version of The Grid floating around that lacks Jeff Bridge's voiceover), but I could've lived with that. It's the online-exclusive tracks that irk me, and drive me to push for a better release. I still want them in lossless form, and I'd happily buy yet another release of this damned soundtrack to get them. So is there a chance Intrada might do this? The film could still be too new, I suppose, and its basic soundtrack release (however much it leaves to be desired) is still in-print. Although they did release Up, which is similarly modern and was similarly shafted in terms of lossy downloads taking precedence over a CD (though to a greater extent, since Up had no album at all prior to Intrada's release).

I'd definitely buy a deluxe edition if Intrada were to do it. I'm content with the single-disc release and am not going to hunt down the 2CD nor the download-exclusives, since the score itself didn't really grab me at all. It was an okay listen at best, but I can't imagine coming back to it anytime soon. The exclusive tracks are 95% essential to the score. I can't believe they weren't included in the first place, but we all know how that works. I added them to the body of the album (thanks to The Mutant, I think) and every time one of those cues comes up, I look at it and go, "Wow, how did they leave this off?"
