Billy Connolly as a murderer film-music composer. And a snob at that. (I think he might fit in here ....) I caught 5 minutes of this show today on TV, and it turns out someone has it on YouTube:

And of course, Connolly in his more familiar persona:

Very interesting denouement. The reference to the theft of a score called 'The Killer' must clearly be a hint at Miklos Rozsa's lawsuit re his 'Killers' score lifted for 'Dragnet'.

I didn't pick up who actually scored this episode.

It was Dick DeBenedictis. (Incidentally, if Columbo barged into the middle of a session in real life even such by-all-accounts-nice-guys as Bruce Broughton or John Debney would likely have strangled him on the spot!)

Connelly looks like a Michael Kamen look-a-like.

I watched this several years ago when it first aired (the only thing Columbo I've ever seen), and I remember thinking the exact same thing.

This is not the only thing Columbo one should see if one has only seen one thing Columbo. This got very low marks from the rank and file of Columbo fans (as most 90s Columbos do).

I did a thread on this once (even predating this one from 2010), but I can't remember what I called it. Something about likeness between the late Billy Connolly and Michael Kamen.

Um, Thor, Connolly isn't dead.

There's a positive angle.

Of course we non-Americans huddled round our crystal sets and rattling our turnip-husks couldn't possibly know who Columbo is.

Hey Thor ... You're from Norway. I hear tell from the big chiefs that your country has proper toilet facilities. Not like our s**thole nations. If we only had blonde hair and golf-courses.

Maybe Michael Kamen?

No, not Michael Kamen, of course. I was thinking of an actor. Was there any actor who looked like Connolly who passed away some 15 years ago? Maybe I dreamt it. big grin

Connoly is a stand up comic not an actor.
He was obviously cast for his resemblance to Kamen.
Strange.

My, what an awkwardly shoehorned-in anti-American-out-of-nowhere comment you've posted there.

Not every American supports "The Donald", you know.
