I'm a major fan of Herzog and most of Popol Vuh's music that was created for the films so I will definitely be investing in this set. It will be nice to hear this music outside of its hypnotic use in the films.
Although the Main Title from Aguirre is a stone cold classic, I'm not that much a fan of the Aguirre and Fitzcarraldo albums as a whole. My favorite Popol Vuh soundtracks for Herzog are Herz Aus Glas, Nosferatu and Bruder Des Schattens (the latter is an alternate score for Nosferatu which is actually superior to the official score, and very very different to it). I've listened to samples of Cobra Verde and it sounds really worthwhile as well.
Does anyone know if this box uses the masters which have been in use for some time on Spalax and Milan releases, or is it the newer remasterings which were done for the SPV label under the auspices of Florian Fricke's son?
(the older masterings vs the SPV remasterings are a mixed bag, by the way. Some of the SPV sound great, but some are mastered from clean vinyl LPs and not superior to the older releases. The SPV releases all contained bonus tracks but the bonus tracks were not of much interest, and were often unrelated to the main body of music on the disc).

Bump from many years ago, but I'm curious if there is any more info about this. I just recently I blind bought and am really enjoying the Best of Popol Vuh: Werner Herzog compilation on Milan. The sound quality is touch and go; I'd love to hear more a consistent master of these tracks.
